go to profiles and hit edit then move to the right till you get to phone sounds. go down and turn the volume all the way down. you have to do it for each profile (except silent of course) but that should work

When it comes to listening to MP3 files you have 2 choices for headsets: The standard wired/corded headsets which retail for about $34.99 or a Stereo Bluetooth Headset which I've seen as high as $89.99. Samsung does make one for the phone, I'm not sure of the model number though.

As far as hearing the music ringtones you have set for Caller Id's, I'm not sure if you can hear them when being called. I have yet to purchase myself a Stereo bluetooth headset. I'll let you know when I order one 🙂

"Yes" you can play mp3 through a bluetooth headset, and "yse" the phone rings through the headset (though just a generic ring, not your ring tone melody).

This works great with the very comfortable and unobtrusive Motorola S9. (No, I'm not a dealer.) It works for both stereo MP3 playback and telephone. But it does more than simply ring--it pauses the MP3, plays the ring tone, lets you answer the call (with a tap of a button) and carry on a conversation through the headset (I don't know where the mic is, but it works great), hang up the call (another tap of the button), and return to your music. And you can even redial the last number, too (another tap of the same button). All of this without ever taking your phone out of your pocket.

I have a Motorola HT820 that I listen to till its battery runs down (8-10 hours) and my phone's battery doesn't hardly drop 1 bar. And my ringtone is an MP3 so it plays through the headset as well. Its a great set up. The coolest thing is that when my call is complete, the music gradually comes back on instead of returning with a loud blast. And the HT820 has a great volume control with real gradual steps (unlike the lame 4 step phone volume control)
