Reliability and Other Things

Hello. I currently own a Nokia 6126 but, because it's starting to fail after only owning it for a month, I'm thinking of switching to a Samsung Sync. My question for the Samsung Sync owners is this. How many of you think that this phone is reliable? I have had several Nokia phones, which I have dropped accidentally. The phones acted as if each fall never affected it whatsoever. However, I owned a Motorola phone that dropped short distances several times on carpet and from my foot and rolled onto the kitchen floor. The phone screen turned black and I thought the phone was going to quit functioning. I am wondering if this Samsung Sync is a more fragile phone. Any feedback on this issue would be helpful.

I'm not too sure about reliability yet, as I have only had my Sync for about 2 weeks, but I sure do miss the signal I got from my Nokia 3100. The Sync, in my case, doesn't get a decent signal half the time and conversations are constantly dropped or choppy unless I am close to the tower. I compared the signal strenth of my Sync to my also new LG CU400 and the 400 always has 2 more signal bars than the Sync has. I guess that is what happens when you get a phone with the antenna at the bottom of the phone instead of near the top.

Wow. I did not know that the Samsung Sync antenna was at the bottom of the phone. I always thought they were somewhere in the middle on all cell phones with internal antennas. I have a Nokia 6126 and the conversation can get a little choppy and break up really bad. I wonder if the antenna on my current phone is near the bottom of the phone or near the top? Hmmm... Thanks for the information you have provided.

Look at the battery cover on the back of the Sync. At the bottom there is a sticker that says: "For optimal call performance, do not obstruct this area during a call"

Oh, okay. I did not know that. I do not have the Samsung Sync. I still have my Nokia 6126, which seems to be working just fine now. 🙂

The Sync would be okay if you don't mind half of your calls being dropped. I upgraded from a Sony Ericsson which had wonderful reception. I have had more dropped calls in three weeks with the Sync than I did in a year and a half with the Sony. The Sync is getting returned!
