Samsung SCH-U740 Alias
mp3 display madness
I'm using the SCH-u740 (not sure if that's the same as the Alias but my phone is about 1 yr old and looks like the model displayed on the info webpage).
I want to start using it as an mp3 player. I bought a 2gb micro SD card, got it formatted, and have the VCAST music manager which I purchased from Verizon. Using either this program or Windows Media Player I am able to get mp3s transferred to the phone micro SD card without any problem.
Now herein lies the problem. I am very particular that I be able to find my mp3s in the phone's menu system, which allows me to lookup the songs by album, artist, or genre. For this reason, I am making sure to fix the mp3 tags before synching them to my cell phone. Trouble is, the cell phone seems to randomly assign ? marks to some of the tags. Thus, if I transfer a bunch of songs that belong to an album called "Dog" then what happens is some of the songs are found under album "Dog" and the others from that album are found under album "?Dog"
The same thing happens with the artist and album fields. It's maddening because it makes it difficult to access all of the mp3 songs I want to hear at any given time.
If it matters, I am using a program called mptag (www.mp3tag.de) to label/correct the mp3 tags. If it's a problem with the tagging program, i'd be happy to try a different one. Trouble is most of those have various issues that make them unuseable. The Tagging in windows media player is horrible.
Please help... I just wanna listen to mp3s on my cell phone b/c i'm too poor to afford an ipod. Is that so much to ask???
