Can the mobile browser functions be disabled

My son and I both have this phone and we really like it.

The only problem that I have is that I have not been able to prevent accidental (or non-accidental) use of the browser. In my latest bill there was a $52 charge for a 1 megabyte download. My cell phone provider (Bell Mobility) says that they cannot disable this feature in a customer profile and the only way to disable this would be in the cell phone settings (if the device supports it). I think this is a sleezy policy and I won't be doing business with them in the future.

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the browser?

Thanks
WR

Yes they can. Its actually pretty easy.
(This is based on Sprint) but if your phone menu is different, just find your tab labeled security.
Go to settings, then security. It will ask you for a code, enter the last 4 of your phone number. Once in, you can edit all your settings. You can prevent data from going out, but that will not prevent texts. You can also prevent phone calls, clear memory and do a variety of other functions.
