I work for cingular and yes the 750 is supposed to come out at annytime now. Same thing with the 8525, 680 and the blackjack and the blackberry pearl. 5 New PDA's should be out before the new year.

Hope Palm has fixed the problem that the Treo 650 has. I had the Treo 650 from Cingular and sent it back after two days. It kept resetting on its own. What was really bad, was it would re-boot in the middle of the night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I am hoping that this will be 750p, with PalmOS, and not another Windows Mobile device...

From what I have read all the Palm Treo's (650 & 700 series) have the same problem of, re-booting and turning themselves off. Is it an OS (PalmOS - Windows Mobile) problem or hardware problem or both?.
I would rather have the Palm Treo over the BlackBerry 8700 that I have. Had to swith too many problems with the Treo 650 from Cingular.

This is true. We have had lots of problems with the 650. The 750 its supposed to be 2 options. You can get it with Palm OS or Windows OS. Palm has been struggling id expect this device to put the past to rest though.

Since when will there be a Palm OS version of the 750? And how do you know this? The 680 will be out soon, with Palm OS, and I think it's a clear sign that even Palm is relegating the Palm OS to the back seat, as the Treo 680 is clearly inferior to the 750. But I've heard nothing about a Palm OS version of the 750, nor, for that matter, a Windows Mobile version of the 680.

Link? CSP resolution #?

From the reports I have read, the PalmOS cannot support HSDPA or U??s(3G), due to the fact that it is not multi-threaded. The only way to get 3G is through WM5, that is why the 680 is only edge.

Pardon my incredulity, but could you explain that further and/or provide a link? How could the operating system of the phone limit the antenna functions? This seems to me like saying (for example), that I can use 802.11g with my Macbook, but not 802.11n, because I'm running OSX. I could understand a firmware limitation for the hardware (antenna specifically), but I don't understand how the operating system of a device could affect the specific functions that way. To give a further example, LG C500, Samsung A707 & Zx20, and the many various HSDPA devices running in Europe - none of them are running Windows Mobile, so why aren't they having this issue?

If I sound sarcastic, I don't mean it that way, I'm genuinely curious.

They're not running FrankenGarnet. The Palm OS is an old, pieced together OS that is barely holding on. It CAN NOT truly multi task and this is why it can not run on 3g.

In 3g there is an active data connect while the voice connection is running and this is why you have to have an OS that can multi task to run it.

As for those phones being able to run 3g, it is due to whatever software tey are running on being newer and able to handle the multitasking required.

So yes, the hardware can receive the signal, but the software can't handle w...

Would it be possible that the PalmOS version of the 750 uses Cobalt? Or was that DOA?

I have no idea where these so called people that works for Cingular gets these information. The bottom line is the Treo 750 is made by HTC for Palm. HTC makes WM phones and PDA so why would they make one with PalmOS. The Treo 680 is Palm's last hurrah for the Palm OS. Treo 750 will only come out with WM. My friend is a test Engineer for Cingular and he is only testing the Treo 750 with WM. No such thing as the Treo 750 with Palm OS. By the way, I was able to play around with the Treo 750 for a day and this thing is sweeet. I tested it side by side with the HTC 8525, BB Pearl and Samsung Black Jack. No contest, Treo 750 is a must have. I was running it on Cingular's 3G network and the data speed is pretty fast. Voice quality is great and ...
