I like my Music loud, lol. When you're travelling on, say, a tube or train etc. with lots of people, you will need the volume on TOPS. The headphones are good at insulating the sound, so that does make them louder. I've used the headphone jac, and other headphones have come out A LOT louder.

In conclusion, yes, they are loud.
