I'm just curious, why does everyone dislike Verizon's UI and what specifically about it don't you guys like?

There are people out there buy Nokia phones (The real ones, not the Pancrap that Verizon sells) just for their UI. Believe or not, for whatever idiotic reason, people also like Motorola's UI. Why? I don't know but they do.

The consumer should have more of a choice and a variety of options. Someone said a while ago that Verizon's practice was "socialism for cell phones" or something to that effect and I completely agree. Couldn't have said it any better. The company who makes the phone should have their own UI on it. Not Verizon custom B.S.

I was talking to the folks in the Verizon corporate store the other day. According to what they tell me (I know of couple of them fairly well, and even they don't like the UI), most people actually love the new UI (as do people I have asked myself). It allows them to get a new phone without having to learn a new UI (that would require some effort).

i think that half of the fun is learning all of the new stuff. Verizon's UI is very boring and it can't be customized like Nokia or Moto's. It's like buying a new car and it looks exactly the same as your old car on the inside. You don't get to discover the fun! Also it isn't compatible with a lot of the phones. Some of the moto's move really slow because of it. Not enjoyable.

I love the UI...on LG's...i think you are correct in saying that it hasn't been perfected for all phone manufacturers. Vzn has really done a good job of updating the UI and tryin to incorporate some of the requests on the consumer. As long as they continue to improve on the UI, I think it will all work out in the end.

Chris

P.S. The way I have mine customized on my 8300 it is way more intutive that a standard moto UI or some of the Samsungs I have used from other carriers.

They should have done what Sprint did. Have you noticed on all of the newer Sprint phones now, they have the same type of menu where it's in a grid format rather than a list and they put the menu features in the same order on every phone? Yet the overall UI look and feel is different with every phone and goes accordingly to the manufacturer.

I think thats what Verizon should have done instead of completely revamping the phones UI.

There are many reason why someone hates the Standard UI

1) Moto lovers, the Motorola UI was very customizable. You can set shortcut keys, change Icon to Text only, etc. Plus Any Moto that has the Standard UI, RAZR/KRZR has some issues.

2)Commie haters. People compare the Red Bars on the display (which is not changeable on most models) as communist.

3)Tech Savy. People who want the Manufacture UI because that is how it was supposed to be. Most seeking a Alltel Rep to flash their VZW Moto phone to the Moto UI or using Bitpim to put the right UI on.

4)Bandwagoner. These people read the forums and see how people complain about the UI and jump on the bandwagon. You can tell who they are because they complain that their LG doesn't have...

Hoprfully the new Moto MAXX Ve has Flash Ui, not the standard UI.

I really don't care about the UI since I had phones with that Ui for the first time.

Because 90% of cell phone users are technologically challenged. Verizon standardize the UI so customers who are r-tards won't have to ask a million questions and complain that it's too hard to learn a new phone.

I work in a retail store in a modest-sized midwest town. My customers are my no means retarded, but you have lots of Farmer Joes out there who still insist on not having a camera phone. So even if they have to get a camera phone, they are happy to know that they will not have to learn how to use a new phone in another two years.

I would like the ability to remap a few buttons, but other than that, Verizon's UI is fine by me.

I don't think the red bars are the sexiest, but regardless, I find Verizon's UI very intuitive and easy to navigate. Cooler icons, animations, and ringtones would be nice, but otherwise I wouldn't change the UI style if I could.
