Differences?

I've never owned a BB, right now I have a Q and I love it. But, I like changing phones.... so could you BB users tell me what the differences are between this one and the 7130e besides this one being newer and it looks a little larger.

Thanks!

First of all, let me say that I switch from the Q to the 8703e and it has been the best move I have ever made. You don't realize how much you are settling with the Q until you use the BB for a day. This is my first BB and it's amazing. It's so sturdy, both hardware and software wise.

The 7130 has a "sure type" keypad. If you look closely, you will see that the QW is one key, the ER is another key, the TY is another key, and so on. it relies on a predictive text type program to figure out what letter you were trying to use. I think the OS on the 8703 is newer too.

But trust me when I say that once you give the 8703 a try, you will think the Q is a POS. I paid full retail for my BB and don't regret it for a second.

Thanks 😁
I am thinking about switching just for fun. How does it compare to the Q as far as how thick, heavy, battery?

It is thicker, almost identical in weight and not as tall as the Q. It feels so much sturdier than the Q. As far as battery life goes, the Q is not even in the same league. With the Q, I had to carry a spare battery because it rarely made it through the day without completely draining. Right now I have 75% left on my BB after a long day of emailing, phone calls, SMS, taking notes and checking my calendar.

The Keyboard blows the Q away too. I don't know about you, but I was rarely able to type more than three words without mistyping on the Q. With the BB, I rarely mistype. The Auto-Text on the BB is sweet too. You can set it up to fill in whatever you want by just entering a few keystrokes. i.e. I can type "OMW" in a text message ...

Thanks so much !

I believe with all that you've said, I must try it. Sounds like a great phone!

I do love the Q, but the battery life is horrible. I carry the extra battery as well.

Not on this phone. The way I understand it is that this phone is used by so many government agencies and companies that require high security, that camera are not allowed, especially phones with cameras.

The newer BB have cameras though. The Pearl has one and the 8800 is supposed to have one in the future, but they won't be coming to Verizon anytime soon. They will go to T-Mobile and Cingular first.
