Verizon is able to offer the same phones as Cingular b/c Verizon is a CDMA carrier, Cingular is GSM. Where I live in rural Wisconsin there is NO GSM service, AT ALL! So really tho, Verizon is able to 'be bitin off cingy' b/c Cingular doesn't provide coverage where Verizon, and other CDMA carriers do! If Cingular improved their coverage area then Verizon probably wouldn't have a chance to compete with them!

i hope they can call int., but don't you need to have the international feature added onto the account with verizon to call internationally, because i had to on my phone. I know with t-mobile you do not have to, to call int, unless you are roaming int. 😁

this phone will not work overseas. It's only a CDMA dual mode phone. Not a GSM. So it can't roam on GSM networks.

Some international areas have CDMA technology so you would be able to use your CDMA capable phone there. You can view a list of the areas on Verizons web site. Also you need to have the international dialing feature added to your account if you are calling international areas that do not have 10 digit dialing, and to be able to use the phone in an international CDMA roam area.

Plus, besides maybe an emergency, why do you need a cell when you go on vaca? that is a fundamental flaw with the technological revolution.

Funny how you guys fail to mention Cingular's UMTS network which is steadly growing and blows Ev Do out of the water in alot of ways plus Cingular also works in places where Verizon doesnt. And Verizon data map is crap compared to Cingular; so call me when you are in an area where you cant text me and I'll text you back in the same area and with a laughing taunt.

I'd be mad as hell too if I were tied into a 2 year contract with the #2 wireless carrier in the country. Honestly what from Verizon makes them better than Cingular? I can't think of one reason I would ever do any business with Verizon. Verizon is old news and alot of you jerks are just angry at that. Cingular has taken over the market and has it on lock. Cingular is better than Verizon in every aspect of the this wireless game.

UMTS/HSDPA > EVDO
GSM > CDMA
Rollover > Any thing Verizon Has
Fewest Dropped Calls > "America's Most Reliable Network (if we do say so ourselves)"

It would be nice if you guys actually knew what you were talking about. GSM is a big step down from digital, that is fact, but I guess when At&t blew it and changed there name to cingular you guys took the bait and believed in the dream. good luck. By the way I would never text any of you so don't use that as an example.

Cingular has terrible reception in my area. VZW always has full coverage no matter where I go. The reason ATT/Cingular uses GSM is because it is CHEAPER for them.

By the way, do your homework. Cingular's bid ad of them having the fewest dropped calls was based in one geographic area. No suprise there. I have used them all, and stick with VZW for a reason.....I like having a signal.

WHY IS EVERYONE DEBATING BACK AND FOURTH ABOUT WHO IS THE BETTER COMPANY?!?! CINULAR THIS VERIZON THAT. NO ONE COMPANY COVERS THE WHOLE U.S. EVERYONE PIGGYBACKS OFF OF EVERYONE ELSE. YES SOME COMPANIES HAVE THE EDGE OVER THE OTHER COMPANIES VERIZON HAS UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGES CINGULAR DOESN'T. CINGULAR HAS ROLLOVER VERIZON DOESN'T. AS LONG AS YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR PHONE IN YOUR HOME AND USE IT THAT'S THE BEST COMPANY FOR YOU!!! MY COVERAGE IN VA. BEACH VA. IS BETTER WITH CINGULAR, BUT IN ANOTHER PART OF THE CONTRY MAYBE BETTER WITH VERIZON. CELL PHONE COVERAGE IS CELL PHONE COVERAGE STOP DEBATING. OH ONE MORE THING VERIZON HAS ON CINGULAR IS BETTER COMMERICALS. AND BEFORE YOU THINK I WORK FOR VERIZON AND IM ALL ON THEIR JOCK I DON'T I AM A CI...

all caps bro? chill out. But you do have a point, all carriers offer things that appeal to different people. If I had my choice of EVERYTHING, I would choose a Sprint phone (best phones) on Verizon's network (best network) and have a cingular rollover plan or t-mobile plan (good plans I guess).

You must be a really angry Verizon Jerk to type your entire post in ALL CAPS! This is about how far __ you have to reach to turn CAPS LOCK off. Get a grip. Verizon has been the #2 wireless carrier for going on two years now. They can't contest Cingular's fewest dropped calls claim, can't compete with Rollover, nor can they touch Cingular's true M2M calling community. No carrier's service works everywhere, but Cingular works in more places than Verizon, and that's a fact.

Since you are so slow i said i work for cingular did you get that? let me slow it down i..... work..... for..... cingular...... there we go. yes i went all caps because i have a valid point. cell phone service is cell phone service everyone is in a pi$$ing contest as to who is better.... my biggest question is how many of you are multi millionaires that obtained your fortune thru means of a wireless company? shh do you hear the crickets chirping? exactly my point everyone "claims" to be the best, but it's just personal opinion. my god stop sucking off the companies and come to grips with reality. its not gonna get you brownie poin...

I'll give you that much.....but the difference is GETTING CONNECTED in the first place! LOL! If Cingular logs FEWER overall connections it is merely a matter of MATHEMATICS they will have fewer dropped calls.

I know 18 year olds who learn THAT in Statistics 101! Bu-bye now. 🙂

Thats it? Thats all you got to answer my 100% accurate ASSessment of you and your whining? You got your props for YOUR carrier....fewer dropped calls!! Good job! FEWER connections result in FEWER dropped calls...simple math. Go ask your daddy if, possibly, HE can help you understand the third grade math problem.

Cingular - 58 million customers
Verzon - 53-54 million customers

Yeah, Cingular has fewer connections. How did you come up with that? Honestly, what facts support your "fewer connections claim"? Simple math? Right, based on the number of overall customers it's a fact that Cingular has more connections. "The Fewest Dropped Calls" is based on independent drive tests. Completely unbiased INDEPENDENT drives tests.

Like I stated before. You sir, are an idiot.

As was stated somewhere earlier I'm sure:

Cingular's churn 2.something < Verizon's churn 1.something.

In other words, for about every 5 or 6 cusotomers that you get, you lose 2. Where for every 5 or 6 we get, we lose 1. (Those numbers are probably off but, it's the point i'm trying to convey)

While, you may or may not have a better network then us based on some bs report (JD Powers ranks us #1 in every category btw, network, cust serv, you name it), we're growing faster then you and will eventually catch you. Proven fact. We already have more postpaid subscribers then you guys, make more $ per customer then any other carrier on price plans, and make more $ then any other company on data plans per customer. Thus, we're the better com ...

HELLO!?!?!?! I never, ever, ever (get the point rocket scientist) said FEWER CUSTOMERS!! I said FEWER CONNECTIONS in the first place! They could have 5000000000zillion "customers", but if they only get CONNECTED 1% of the time...

Well, to the originator of the post, I think you are wrong. If dropping 3 - 6 calls every day is BEING NUMBER 1, then great, but I've never dropped a call in 6 years with Verizon, switched to Cingular, becauase they do have cooler phones first, and lost calls for the first week. Back to Verizon and back to that comfortable, reliable, make a call anywhere anytime feeling.
