I am new to this phone as well but, have not had all the problems you have had. I read some where that Sprint/Nextel has designed the new phones software to better be able to "sell" ringtones to their subscribers. However, there are ways around this feature. Go into the "MEMORY" settings and shut the card reader off prior to using WebJal. I haven't tried this yet but, believe it is posted somewhere in this forum.
Your music problems are probably a file format issue. I have about 200 MP3's on my phone right now and I am currently downloading 50 more to my phone as I type this. Simply take your saved music and copy/cut/paste it in the phones "MUSIC" directory, not "audio"
I have the same issues with memory card. Not sure if this is a phone issue or perhaps an issue with my memory card.
The larger memory card is for your PC. Currently no PC's, that I know of, support MicroSD cards. You can put the tiny card inside the larger one to use in most multi-card readers. If you have the card reader in your PC then you wouldn't need a data cable for most downloads, excluding WebJal.
Finally, I am not an expert. I believe most of what I have said to be true but, if it's not my apologies
