Hi,
Can I load mp3 music files into a Music folder on the memory card and play them through the media player, or do I need to convert them to a different file extension?

Put them in the "Media" folder. If you put them in the "Music" floder, you have to listeb to them through the music store. And no, you don't have to convert them.

As a side note to what you said JM, try to keep the MP3s ripped to a bit rate of 128 kps, set the channels to 2(stereo) and have the audio sample rate for 44 kHz as anything above these really don't appear to sound significantly better in quality yet will take up significantly more space thus less songs for storage on the MicroSD.
