I've purchased the M500 and found that there is no existing PC Sync software - Checked FutureDial, Samsung and Sprint. No one seems to know how to easily import contact lists from the PC. As for the wirelessbackup service from sprint - they forgot that need and, btw, it also drops phone numbers when receiving info from the M500. Kind of defeats the purpose of a backup. If anyone knows what PC Sync capable software is available, please let me know. Please don't mention the Contact Copier from Samsung, its ver 1.0 and does not recognize the usb connected phone.
Also the # of 'entries" is 500 but each name, phone number and email is a separate 'entry". In other words you will only get about 120 to 150 records into the device.

Go to a Sprint store and ask them to use their UME36 (www.cellebrite.com) to transfer your contact list.
You can also make a backup/restore to/from your USB Flash drive.

There is software at the sprint store, if they haven't recieved the Cellebrite yet, the store should still have the ICSS software to do this.
For wireless backup (and bluetooth object push) if the contact has any special characters it won't transfer.
Each name, number, e-mail address, etc. counts as a seperate entry. So, you get 500 of these.

I have a problem with the sync. I downloaded the backup utility from Sprint, in order to backup my contacts list. When I connect the phone to the PC via the data cable, windows pops up a message that new hardware found, that's a Samsung CDMA modem. so I know that Windows recognized the device, but when I launch the Sprint utility, it starts looking for a USB device, and keeps searching for 10 minutes... Am I doing something wrong here?

To put it bluntly, Yes.
The software that was on samsung's website (not there anymore) was not designed for the current generation of phones. It was removed because of this.
If you have a different piece of software that really does support this, you might just need to go to
menu>tools>mass storage>connect to pc
on your phone.

I found that the phone is the same as the Samsung SGH-T619. Here is the link for the sync software:

I got this phone from Bell because my old Samsung A860 fell and broke in front of the Bell store 🙂 . I lost the screen on the A860 so I can't creally copy my contacts over to the new M500.
Like many others I couldn't get the USB driver to work. I've tried the Samsung PC Studio 3 and it sits there 1500sec +. I've got very important contact info that I can't afford to lose. PLEASE HELP!!
ps. Tried the old Samsung contact copier doesn't work!

if you go to a sprint store, they will most likely have a cellebrite machine that can transfer the contacts over for you, if you don't have a sprint account they may charge you $15 for it, but if it's really important info, that should be pocket change.
