I went to the local sprint store and they told me they have the phones, but they can't sell them until the SSC approves the phone. I asked them; why are they selling them online then? and they said, the online people don't follow the rules. What gives?

The wonderful world of Sprint involves thousands of sales channels, none of which have any idea what another will do or is doing. My advice, call Telesales, they probably have to phone if you can't/don't want to order online.
