Way to send/receive fax?

howdy folks!

proud new owner of an m500, and i'm wondering if anyone might know how to send/receive faxes, i.e. use the phone as a modem? thanks much in advance!!! also, if it is possible, is it possible to do it without the vision/data package?

Using the phone-as-modem is an extra service with requires an agreement of 2 years just on that service so I don't recommend it. There's a few problems with phone as a modem. 1. You can't make or recieve calls while it's connected to phone-as-modem. 2. It drains you battery 3. You can't plug in your phone to a charger when using it as a modem (a select few phones excluded) I recommend looking into the Sprint air cards. Speeds are the best in the industry and coverage is unmatched.
There really isn't a way to use phone-as-modem without the service itself because the phone wont be enabled for it. As far as sending faxes, there's no way that i've heard of to be able to do that. There might be a third party program out there but nothing t...

you can do it without the phone as modem plan. just get the $15 vision plan, and do this:

menu
settings
display
0

you will be presented with a box labeled "field serv" in that box, type in 040793. click ok.

in the following menu, go to "toggle NAI", and turn off the modem NAI. you can now use the phone as a modem without the pam plan.

also, if you are in an evdo area, you may want to change the setting called DDTM, which allows voice calls to interrupt your data session. this only works in evdo coverage, but by roughly october, everywhere will have evdo.

side note:

if 040793 doesnt work, then the phone wants your MSL. to get this, call tech support and simply say, "i cant make calls. it says my account cannot be valida...
