i like the phone and all i have a sidekick 2 right now and got the data plan before it went up to 29 (only 20)...i think its stupid they bumped the plan up like that thats rediculous theyre gonna lose customers. But the worst thing is with this smartphone they dont include a descent service plan for it, you have to pay $29 for the internet plus $14 for unlimited texting...THATS REDICULOUS....itll be the day before i upgrade my sk2 to something like that i would never pay that much for texting/internet...ill stick to my $20 and upgrade in 6 months to the Sk3 and still keep that $20 data plan =\...tmobile needs to make a smartphone plan including both texting and internet and all the features they give sidekicks and not go and raise the prices...

That is the cheapest plan by far...... I got the MDA on the same plan, and since i can use unlimited internet, unlimited text, and use my phone as a modem for 45? There isn't a company that is matching that in addition to the minute packages. Now if you were talking about the coverage area, i would agree but since you have the p.o.s. sk2 you might as well reap the benifits of a real PDA and donate that extra 25.

From what I'm seeing on T-Mobile's website, the SideKick Unlimited plan is still $20-a-month.

Are you referring to their data only plan?

My complaint about the plan is that I'm paying extra for T-Mobile hotspots. I'd like to have the option of using a data plan w/o T-Mobile's hotspots like they have for the Pearl ($20-a-month).

Regardless, these two devices aren't for the same demographic. Sure, a lot of non-business users like myself are interested in this device, but it doesn't have the same appeal the SK3 does with regard to aesthetics, IM, or ease of use.

For $29.99/mo you get unlimited Wi-Fi (any open Wi-Fi.. it could be yours, your neighbors, works, or Starbucks, etc) along with EDGE. The $19.99/mo for the blackberry and $20/mo for the Sidekick only gets you EDGE speed. You're paying more for the faster internet speed.
As far as not getting the text included in the Blackberry or MDA/SDA/Dash plans, it makes sense to me (from a company perspective). TMo gets all the money they're losing (by including text) back through the downloads you can do on the Sidekick (games, hi-fi ringers). Seeing quite a few Sidekick bills a month, there are usually $8 to $30 extra just in downloads. You're not going to see that with the other data phones.

BTW, the Dash is horrible. I wouldn't spend my own mon...

no way i got the dash that night and its amazing best phone ive had yet and ive had some top notch phones, this is a great phone its very quick and has every feature i need, AIM is great on it and fast (unexpectedly quick) and so is texting and all that, feels great in ur hand very light and thin, on con is battery life, can drain a battery on wifi in about 5 hours.

and thats not true...the phone comes with wifi if you pay for the $29.99 internet or not, it comes with it and u can use it at any home or work or any router, the only thing u get extra with the $29.99 is the hotspots at starbucks that enable hotspots, its convenient but who goes to starbucks that often to use their phone, i strongly believe tmobile should lower their monthly ...

i got an awesome deal!!! turns out the manager lady at my local Tmobile store had a sk2 as well and upgraded to the dash the same day i did, we both grandfathered the data plans to include everything the sidekick has plus hotspots for $29.99....i mean you cant beat $6 for the treo but if u want a new phone and new data plans along with unlimited texting...id rather pay the $29.99 than $45 for all of it, idk what she did or how she did it but it shows up on my billing plan on My.T-mobile and i called customer care after i left cause i forgot to add insurance and they said the $29.99 for all of it was correct and the reason for this was a simple grandfather change from about a year ago haha

managers are very sneaky ;)
