Nextel's push to talk works on an idependant system than it's cellular signal. That it is way it is so fast. The rest of the carriers have to piggyback their PTT feature on there cellular signal. So what happens is that it is treated like a cellular call and it will run into high call volume towers and drop or it wil have to wait in line for the signal. Most carriers do no want to spend the money to build a whole new and independent network to support their PTT. Nextel did just that.
