ever since the merger was announced i've been looking forward to being able to use nextel's ptt network without switching my contract to nextel...
i thought that these hybrid phones would allow me to do that, but i guess the exculsivity agreement that motorola has with nextel regarding iden chipsets is still in place, huh?
anyone have any clue when i'll be able to use a phone on my sprint contract to ptt with my gf's nextel?

Qchat might be the only way that you will be able to, but that part is not being looked at yet.
I suggest you either have you and her be on the one network to allow for that, but if you port to Sprint and want to use PTT, it has to be when Qchat comes out. (In 200😎
Also, try to see if that dual mode device will work out for both of you. It is called the IC502. (under this thread.) It might help solve your anger.

as a Note... there are not Nextel contracts... if you sign up for the hybrid phone you are signing to SPRINT Nextel, not Nextel... as an entity, Nextel is gone.. absorbed.. "this bird is NO MO" (to quote Monty Python)...
IF you have a current Sprint PCS phone you can UPGRADE to a Hybrid CDMA/iDEN phone (thus the hybrid portion) and renew your contract with Sprint.. YOU WILL have to be moved from the old billing system to the newer version (which will be happening in the near future for all PCS customers anyway), but you will (again) be signed on with Sprint Nextel, not one or the other...
