Can anyone figure out how to disable the startup sounds and also some of the system sounds?

Like the voicemail noise ?! You can change the MMS notification noises but not the voicemail !! Atleast Im having trouble doing so...

Like startup sounds, I emailed LG and not only got an inaccurate statement about Apple and Macs, but also they said that you can not turn them off.
