Formatting a Micro Card?

The Rever

Apr 24, 2007, 6:08 PM
I have a nearly full 1 GB micro card, which was on my LG VX8300. I know I must reformat it for the Maxx, but have been unable to do so, and I cannot find info from the maual.

I've tried turning the Maxx on and off, putting the card into my card reader and deleting the files from there (while they disappear, they still read 'full'), but still I can't put anything onto it.

Suggestions?

have you tried accessing the memory card while it is in the phone, and formating the card while it is in the phone? I know that may sound basic, but I found that it is needed, or if your card has the my music folder you should be able to access the music from there on the phone I do that with my Q and my 8300 I know two seperate sizes.

Thanks, but I cannot get the phone to actually format the card. There is no menu item for formatting that I have found...

Mystery.

Make a temp folder on your desktop and take the micro card and copy to this folder.

Take and erase the card using your pc. Turn your phone off and insert card and reboot phone. It will write new folders to the card. Take the card out of the phone again and read the files. Copy files from desktop to appropriate folders on card and insert back in phones.

The Maxx VE doesn't offer a "Format" option. If you have a SD card reader, you can connect it to your desktop and access it via the Windows Explorer. From there you can right click on the drive and select "Format". According to Motorola, you want to select "FAT" not FAT32.

Good luck though, my Maxx VE is yet to work with the 1 gig card. I have had erratic problems with this and Verizon is yet to come out with some kind of patch.

I was able to format my memory card. A Verizon rep. told me to do it the way mentioned above. Put the card in the reader, right click the drive, select Format and she told me to use FAT32. That is what I did with the 1 GB card and now it works just fine!

To format the card in the Maxx, press #4357*, then Storage devices, TRANS-T-Flash, Options, Format.

No, you need to format as FAT32 for 2GB cards, FAT for smaller drives to aviod having problems.
