According to this, it's plastic

and

"Looking at it, it's certainly a purty addition to the RAZR line, but trades the brushed metal surfaces for a high-gloss plastic exterior on the face. This glossy finish seems to be the exterior-du-jour for phone makers these days, and as with all of them, the smudge factor is extremely high. After handling it on the show floor, we definitely felt like we needed to run to the nearest bathroom and wash our hands."

Dear phone fans,

It is not plastic, but metal. I purchased one this morning--I am not speculating.

Further, this from Motorola's web site concerning the Motorazr Maxx Ve: "Comprised of aluminium, magnesium and chemically hardened glass displays,..."

Rest easy.

It is solid plastic with a plexi-glass front. Heavier than the it's old razr's. Like any phone buy a cover, they have clear ones...

It really doesn't matter what it's made of, it is still a fingerprint magnet as are just about all phones made today. About the best thing you can do is find something in a color that shows them less. That or wear gloves.

From a technical design standpoint... all you guys are right in a way.

The inner core frame is metal, which gives the reflectiveness. The outer casing is glass fused with metal (either magnesium or titanium) to give it a feel more sturdier than a regular plastic, but not as brittle and less prone to cracks then pure glass, and as clear to see through to see the reflective metal base. Consider it like carbon fiber, but instead glass with metal.

It is though, the same smudging material as the KRZR.

And if you guys are curious, the next item in technology in CE casing is a corn husk hybrid plastic which conducts heat as much as metal... removing the need for a heat sync... but would be more implemented in laptops, but maybe ce...
