This drove me crazy for months. I actually found instructions on Motorola's sight. I have a Razor. When suggested words come up if you hit the right scroll (right arrow) other possible words will show, then you can select the right word by hitting the scroll up (arrow up) this also works for the period, question mark etc. right scroll for the question mark.
If none of the words recomended are the one you want, hit the star key to quickly change to "Abc", type in you word, then * back to iTapen. The phone is supposed to store words you type in in the phone's memory for future text messaging.
