Why does a Tmob phone have GSM 850?

So that it can roam on GSM 850 networks like Cingular where T-Mobile doesn't have service but has a roaming agreement.

Roaming agreements, thats what there commercial say that they have bigger coverage even though they are using cingular and dobson

All new T-Mobile phones have GSM 850. That has been the case for some time now.

It's so they can roam on other networks like Cingular. T-Mobile offers a very large amount of free roaming coverage, so it's pretty important for any non-urban areas.
