Unlocked KRZR - foreign characters above numbers on keypad

I just received an unlocked blue KRZR from Amazon.com, and it had what looked like Chinese characters above all the numbers on the keypad. It was distracting to look at when dialing or texting, so I'm returning the phone. I checked their web page for this phone, and if you look really closely at the large picture of the keypad, you can just make out that there are markings above the numbers.
I understand the unlocked phones are made outside the US and are often made for other countries, but does anyone know if ALL of the unlocked KRZR's have this issue? I ordered another one from TigerDirect.com (keypad picture on their web page was without additional characters), so I'm hoping that one has a more standard keypad.
Any thoughts would be ...

This is not common to ALL unlocked phones. I'm batting .500. 1 KRZR I ordered had the character and one didn't. I don't mind it, I'm actually using the one with the characters.

Gotcha. Thanks for the input. I'm hoping I have better luck with the one I ordered from TigerDirect. I could have just ordered one (for 30 bucks more) from the Motorola web site itself. I'm sure the one they ship to the US wouldn't have the Chinese characters, but you also don't get the Phonetools CD with it. You'd have to buy it separately.
I might get used to having the characters there, but I figure if I'm paying this much money, I should get what I'd like. Thanks again.
