Problem With KRZR K1M Bluetooth

by jhacker    Oct 14, 2007, 9:48 AM

I recently updated the firmware on my Verizon KRZR K1M. It is now at 24.1_01.08.04. Ever since I updated, my Bluetooth hasn't worked and I can't use my Bluetooth headset. After discovering the problem on my original, I called Verizon and had them send me an FRU. I'm on #2 and the problem still exists. I narrowed down the problem down and found that the Bluetooth doesn't work only when the MicroSD card is inserted into the phone. As soon as I remove it, Bluetooth works again. I have even tried backing up all the files and reformatting the card thinking a corrupt file on the card is causing the problem. It still doesn't work. When I go into the Bluetooth menu on the phone and try to turn it on or place it in 'Discovery' mode, the phone just quits responding. The only way I can exit is to press the 'end' button.

Of course I called Verizon's so-called tech support and explained the issue. The woman tried to tell me that I wasn't able to use the bluetooth because this is a multimedia phone and the only Bluetooth profile I can take advantage of is the stereo headset. I reminded her that I was able to use my regular Bluetooth headset (a Motorola HS505 I believe) just fine BEFORE the firmware update, and she recanted. She even transferred me to a Tier 2 rep and they still didn't have a solution. They said the issue was new to them. I would find it odd that I am the only one having this issue, especially since the problem is with two different units. Has anyone else had the same problem? Is there a possible solution short of removing the card with all my music and photos just to use Bluetooth?
