car charger help
Is there any reason i cant just buy the cheap car charger from walmart for way cheaper? Or is it bad for the phone?
...
i dont know from any personal experience, but have heard tales of people getting their phones fried by the charger if it isnt OEM. have heard it more on ipods than phones tho.
...
The ones from walmart may not have an ignition delay in them, IE if you're jacked in when you turn the engine over, all kinds of wavy voltage spikes could find their way into your phone...
Most modern chargers have a cutout below X volts (IE when the starter engages) and then they wait say 500ms after voltage is back to normal before supplying juice...
If it's less than $15 it's suspect. If you buy it at a gas station truckstop or cart in the street it's probably suspect too...
...
they sell one that says its a motorola one at walmart for like 17. think that would work?
...
look in the manual, ge tthe "motorola" par tnumber fo rthe car charger, and FROOGLE it. 🙂 Probably like $16 + S&H... for the real deal.
...
It will not work. You plug it in and it says:
UNAUTHORIZED CHARGER and will not charge.
You must use the Moto charger provided by VZ.

You can buy one. I did and it works fine, just make sure it fits good.
...
The cheap ones also might not be recognized by your phone. It'll show up as "Unauthorized" when you plug them in. If you could spend the cash on the phone, why can't you spent 25 bucks a real charger from motorola? Makes sense.
...
oh I can, I was just asking if i got a cheaper one, would it ruin my phone. if it doesnt then i would get the cheaper one. if it did then i would get the regular one.
...
it's the same thing buddy. but obviously the 5 dollar special isn't going to last as long. but to answer your question, its not bad for your phone. i promise

Plus, the OEM charger from Moto has a LIFETIME warranty.
