8700 Coming soon

Yes indeedy. The big brother of the 8600 will be out in the very near future. Only highlights on the 8700 is she will have a 2MP Camera. Pretty much everything will be the same as far as features on the 8600.(Except cosmetically of coarse) LOL!

Anyone reccomend this phone

Hi,
Just wondering if everyone still reccomends this phone or if you think waiting for the 8700 would be better. Seems this phone still has some different issues.

Solution for those of you who don't like smuges...

Just go here:

http://www.vskins.com/skins/ »

and purchae a skin, the cost is only $15, free shipping, some are less, and your phone looks like none other around...the selection is somewhat limited, but it is still doable, if the smuges are really bothering you...

How do you turn ON the speakerphone?

I feel pretty dumb for asking this question, but I just got my new 8600 and cannot figure out how to turn it on. There seems to be zero documentation in the Verizon handbook on how to do this. Thanks!

8600 reception problems

I DID take my phone back and had it swapped out for another one, and so far, the places that dropped my calls, as well as where the reception was bad, has improved to be as good as my old LG 5200...

As for the clarity problems that I was having, after I was told that the microphone was the TINY hole next to the * (star) key, I was more aware of where my mouth and hand were while talking on the phone...

Hope this helps some people...

Plantronics 330z static

I bought the plantronics 330z bluetooth headset about a week ago, and have noticed that it seems very staticy. Even when I am not on a call, just going through the menu's, the sound from the earpeice crackles and pops. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I'm going to take it back, but am not sure if I should get the same headset again, or a different one.

Can't use Voice Commands when BT paired with my car

When I'm paired with the car ('04 Prius) and press the Voice Command button, the "Please state your command" prompt isn't heard, althought the display looks like it's waiting for a command. I speak a command, but nothing happens.

Voice Commands work fine when BT isn't active.

Anyone else having this problem?

(On the upside, my custom ringtones work great! 😁 )

Quick Questions

So i just got this phone yesterday and i do like it. The only things i don't like (and i know they're common) are the flat keys and the smudges. The keys i can live with, but i'm worried that the smudges will lead to scratches and i won't be able to see the screen anymore. Is this a problem? Should i invest in some sort of shield for it? Or should i possibly wait until the VX8700 comes out? Any help would be most appreciated.

Playback problems?

I just recently got a MicroSD card for my new VX8600, and transferred my music onto it. I started playing the music, and closed to phone. After it's closed, the music would randomly pause/skip to the next/last track. The thing is, my fingers aren't even touching, nor are they even close to the playback buttons, or even the side buttons. It continues to pause/skip even when I'm not touching the phone at all.

Has anyone had this problem when playing music with the phone closed? Is there a problem with my phone? I've only had this phone for a week, so I'm still able to get it replaced.

Thank you very much in advance.

Ringtones for caller ID (VX 8600)

I thought I read somewhere on here that for the VX 8600 you cant use the ringtones as a caller ID. Or that you cant use a specific ringtone for a specific contact.
Can someone tell me if thats true?

Syncing with Outlook

I am about to move from my lost Treo to an 8600. I want to make sure that I will be able to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar with this phone. Is that possible out of the box? With 3rd party software? Thanks.

URGENT! LGvx8600 VS Samsung A900M? Verizon VS Sprint?

I've been researching the Samsung A900M (not the A900) and the LGVX8600 for hours now because I have to choose a new phone and a new carrier. (I know one is Sprint and one is Verizon, I'll get back to that in a second)

I really prefer the A900M over Verizon's 8600 regardless of memory and am trying to find a way in justifying the purchase. A few things ARE very important to me though. Even after reviewing this forum I haven't found a concrete way of putting MY mp3's on this phone and using them both as songs AND ring tones. (as well as MY jpegs for caller id) Please forgive me, if I overlooked it. I HAVE found a solid lead for the 8600 by using BITPIM.

1.Can anyone tell me for sure if these things are possible?
2. If so, can you pleas...

Missed alert...

Hi, Is it possible to disable the alert that sounds like a little “squawk” that occurs directly following a missed call without having the phone in the silent or vibrate mode?

Thanks for your time.
