Navigator exits when flip is closed

I am used to having Navigator run and display on the outside LCD when I had a RAZR, today I tried Navigator with my VX8600 and when I closed the phone it exited Navigator. I also could not make or receive calls without Navigator exiting. Is this normal and if so, can it be fixed?

Mine also exits when the phone is shut, and that sucks, but you can still receive and send calls, as long as you don't shut the flip.
