What Format Media Files Will Play On The 8400?

We know that the audio format mp3 will play fine and I found out by trying them that video mpg's will not. So what video formats will work?

No 3.5mm headset jack... and adapters don't work, this sucks..

I was pretty dissapointed to find that this phone doesn't have a 3.5mm headset jack on it. The headphones that came with it are cheap and I was hoping to be able to plug my ipod headphones into the phone. I bought a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter on ebay which didn't work. I noticed the plug on the headset has 4 connection rings on it, not 3 like a regular headset; so this is probably why the adapter didn't work.

Does anyone know of a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter out there that would work? Or how about a nice set of headphones that would work; just a standard headset, I don't need the microphone for it. Or maybe another idea all together.....

New Firmware

I'm in the process of upgrading my phone right now from 1.02SP to 1.007SP.

Just completed and it's rebooting.
Update Complete!

OK, that seemed to go OK.

For what it's worth, the description said it improved pcture mail & Bluetooth.

Text Messages - Pls help!

I send receive about 3,000 text messages a month so text functionality is very important. I am considering this phone so any input would be greatly appreciated!

*How many text messages can you save in your inbox and outbox?
* How many text messages can you select and send at the same time?
* Also, has anyone else ever gone from a blackberry or pda (keyboard) to this phone and how does it compare in terms of speed to type a message?
* Can you sync your phone to your computer so you won't lose your contacts if something happens to your phone?

What Format Ringers Will The 8400 Support?

Well, I know it supports midi (.mid) but what else?
http://t1mmy.net/phone/phone.html » says they have a 1mb size limit.
What's the supported formats & video? The manual doesn't specify. I know ringers go to internal memory so that would be a restriction which is disappointing since I'm quite successfully using a 2gb microSD card.

SCP-8400 bug?

I bought three of these and they each have a problem. When receiving a call and answering by using the flip open to answer feature, there is a 3-4 second delay before the caller's conversation is connected the the earpiece of the 8400. That is, we flip open the phone and say hello and place phone to our ears and there is no sound for 3-4 seconds and then the sound is heard but we have missed some of the caller's conversation. This does not happen if disable the flip open to answer feature and select the press TALK button or any other button to answer feature. Very annoying! Anyone else experience this problem?

review

has anyone read the katana vs 8400 review in review section yet. i mean you give it all pros, didnt name any cons and you give the phone a two and a half. thats like me saying i love my new hybrid camry, it saves me money on gas, the ride quality is excellent, the new design is beautiful and on a scale from 1 to 10 i give it a 5. i mean i know its your own opinion but you sound like you like the phone a lot and then you give it a two and a half rating its not very helpful. it makes it sound like your contradicting yourself.

Crashes

It's happened a few times. I believe about twice when using On Demand. I think once when doing a bunch of stuff in contacts.
Suddenly black screen and the system just kind of reboots. It come back after a little while saying it's looking for service, etc. It's like a windows crash.
It's never done it during a call. Am I crazy or has anyone else had this happen? Seems to me an update is due. BTW my phone lists it's "software" as 1.002SP. Just checked and it says there are no firmware updates available.

SOMEONE must know where to find software that will allow user to upload ringtones to 8400's sdcard??

I'm really frustrated that I have yet to find software or a way with the USB cable for the phone to upload mp3s to the sd memory card that I can then use as ringtones. Please someone post a link to such software that actually works. BitPim just released a new version yesterday and it STILL doesn't work with the 8400 via USB cable. ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

Speakerphone

I'd like to know if Sanyo has incorporated a full duplex speakerphone into the SCP-8400. I can't seem to find any info on it. Thanks.

Video Ringer ID's?

Does anyone know if this phone supports taking videos with the phone and assigning them to a ringer/video ID for incoming calls (like the 9000)?
Thanx! 😎

Transferring phone book to Sanyo 8400

I've just posted this at:

http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=12 ... »

BitPim doesn't officially support the 8400 yet, but it's fairly easy to transfer your phone book entries to the 8400 using it. Let me quickly walk through the steps for transferring from an old phone to the 8400:

1. Use BitPim to pull your phone list from your old phone.

For those of you that don't have it, download BitPim from here:

http://www.bitpim.org/ »

It supports most phones that have been out for a while and you'll need a USB cable to access the data on your phone. There are detailed instructions on how to use it on the BitPim website.

2. Export your phone book in vCard 3.0 format

From BitPim, there's a...

Speakphone Distortion?

Love this phone. But recently I noticed how distorted my speakerphone sounds at anything above midrange volumes. I'm pretty sure my 8300 was cleared, anyone else experiencing this? I'm thinking of taking it into the sprint store to compare.
