ringtone editor...

I just purchased the 8525 a couple weeks ago, and so far so good. Still wrestling with some things, but everything appears to work.

I was reading here on the forums, and I recall someone referring someone else to a website where they could download an open source ringtone editor that could be downloaded for free. I just scanned around and could not find the post and was wondering if someone out there knows where this, or a similar app. is available.

Cingular 8525 Accessories

Has anyone found good accessories for this phone? In particular power chargers, usb cables, etc.

I can't seem to find many that plug directly into the 8525 without requiring that darn Y-cable.

Which chargers support the new mini USB port? That Y-cable is just begging to get lost and then I can't charge it at all.

What would the DATA SYNC speed be like with a laptop?

Hello all...
Been coming to this website for over a year now and this is the first post I needed to make. I need a DO IT ALL phone. I am a real estate agent. I want WiFi, DATASYNC, a touch screen so I can make notes and drawings without notepads, and e-mail/contact management that will work with Outlook.

This phone fits all my needs. I am currently with Verizon and must wait 4 months to switch. 2 things are important to me. I want my phone/pda to have internet access and my laptop too....but I do not want to pay for separate DATA service packages.

What would the speed be like if I DATASYNC with my laptop?

My guess is that it would not be as fast as a broadband card for my laptop. Does anyone have any data or speed numbers or e...

Cingular 8525 vs Treo 650 rebooting

I'm looking to do an upgrade for my 650. My major complaint with Treo has been the need to reboot the phone almost every day. It also mysteriously reboots itself sometimes. Any experience with the 8525 users on how often it needs to be rebooted?

few questions

I have a few questions im kinda new to the wifi biz.

the guy at cingular told me to use the wifi i have to pay the 45 a month data package. but my girlfriend who works for verizon said that in hot spots like panera bread, its free and you dont really need to buy the data package. can anyone clear this up for me please?

another question is... is it possible to set a ringtone to an individual caller, so when they call a certain song or tone can play?

PDA Conncet vs. Data Connect vs. Media Max 200

I have the phone, very pleased with it. Does more than I thought it would. Just a question about the plans. I was more or less told that I HAD to sign up for PDA Connect, so I did. What does one lose, if anything, with either of the other 2 plans, in terms of functionality? I guess $39.99 is not overly exorbitant, but is there an appreciable difference in the plans, to the point where I would either lose speed or capacity to browse as freely as with PDA Connect? Any help would be appreciated.

Help!!

👿
I am trying to connect my 8525 to my wireless network at my house, and all it says is my PPP username and password are incorrect. I entered in the WAP.CINGULAR.COM and CINGULAR1. Then it goes into a cycle of re-attempting. If anybody can help that would be much appreciated. thank you!!

Am I missing something??

I am new to WM5, and also to the PDA realm. My old phone was an old Nokia TDMA phone, and I finally jumped into the new millenium with the 8525. I don't know if I am missing something, or if there is a problem, but I have had the phone for about 3 days, and it seems to have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, all I can seem to find is the potential...the reality is not as impressive...yet.

Here are my questions/issues:

Haven't been able to get any video. In researching this, it appears that certain video features of this 3G phone are not supported yet. Do I truly have to wait until Cingular updates something before I can watch news and weather clips on my phone without subscribing to something?

Looked into getting a game or app,...

Power adapter?

Anyone know what's the deal with the charger? Why did they change from the common mini connection to their own now? Not cool.

Cingular 8525 Ringer ID

Anybody know how (IF) you can set up ringtone ID (not with additional software like Photocontacts Pro, standalone, as in the box from Cingular) for some of your contacts? I can't figure it out.........

8525 vs 8700c

I have been using the 8525 for about 2 days now and I think its a great PDA phone!

What I can't decide is whether or not to switch back to my Blackberry. I LOVE my Blackberries (past and present) and have nothing against them...but I love trying new phones.

The 8525 is really advanced and has some great features, I just get frustrated when I have to go through 2-3 additional steps to do the simplest of tasks.

Are there any specific/compelling reasons to keep this phone other then UMTS and video streaming (don't use it that much).
