I used the hp 6925 today .. very disappointed

AVOID THIS PHONE...
bad reception and bad voice quality. low speakerphone. With all the hangups with the 6515 you think hp would have fixed these things. with the elevated pricepoint because of GPS, which did work. I do not see it being woth it as a cell phone

Now available on ebay

For those of you that just cant wait... it is now available on e-bay (search 6900) . Funny how it shows up there before retail. $800-$900 seems a little steep for this phone though.

It's the end of the month and over due.

Hi folks, great information you have here . I have been waiting for this damn thing to be released for months. As a guy who has been using an Ipaq (w/ gps software)and separate phone it will be perfect for me. Especially the GPS. For the last month and a half HP has said by the end of July and today they just say sorry, we have nothing else to say. It has been on sale in the UK for a few weeks now but I didn't want to pay those prices over there. They did say it will be sold branded (crippled)Cingular and an unlocked version. If any of you travel out of the US the unlocked phones are easy to switch out the chip so you don't have to pay those crazy international roaming prices. T Mobile unlocks the phones after about 90 days ownership....

does cingular or HP know that it is summer right now?

Well with 7 days left in July I don't think we will be seeing the hp this month and with 38 days till Sept and the start of fall with school starting will we see it this summer although they may be using a solaris time frame and in which they have till sept 20 to get it to market. Which in Oct they will be releasing the 3g nation wide. Which means this device is that much more out of date. GOOD job Cingular and HP. JOB WELL DONE!!!

I have feeling that this phone with all its none offical hype and us waiting so long is going to be a piece of crap.

Neither phone is 3G which Sux but the gps feature is good and really there are only 15 markets with 3G anyway. Will post more info as i get it

Cingular magazine

I just got the Cingular magazine or advertisement booklet and they had a a picture of the 6515 in it but identifyit as the 6515 6900 serires but the blue function key gave it away. So they can't even use the 6900 pic for adv.? Also they adv something they haven't released yet or they pullled out of the market with? It was right next to the blackberry. So I'm hoping that this means it is about to drop. But with the some what review that I just read in here, maybe the phone isn't that great.

Built in GPS work with Prepaid?

The built in GPS sounds great, although I currently use GPS for free with a blootooth device in my current HP device for free.

Since the built in GPS is "assisted" by the cell towers will it be using minutes? Or will those of us that use pre-paid plans not get to use the GPS functionality?

Out dated out of the box

With all thers hype over the features, this thing will be outdated as soon as it is out of the box, actually if it ships as it is now it is already outdated. No bluetooth 2.0, only "b" wifi no G or N. Memory I read on this site that thedre are 8gig memory alrady and by this summer 10 or more and it is cheap. No UTMS, which means they should give all those who buy this phone a free upgraded phone when they come out in another 6-8 months. the resoulution is bad, but they say that is the only way the 5.0 will work so either MS or HP need to get there **** together to solve that issue. camera is low resolution and it would be cool with flash. No voice commands through head set, hwich wont matter cuz the blue tooth is only 1.1 so it will suck.

Hmm. . .

Interesting that it doesn't have UMTS. True, UMTS on Cingular isn't national yet, but there's enough users in the UMTS areas that would probably want a 3G PDA. Looks like the Treo 700 is going to remain the only 3G PDA available for a while then. . .

im looking forward to this phone

I've been following this phone quite closely and a few people already have pre-release versions in some of the various iPAQ forums. I have a 6515 which I have a few complaints about and it looks like the 69xx solves most of them. The only thing I have confirmed the 69xx wont do that I want is voice command over bluetooth (even with the known WM5 hack that works on the XDA). The 240x240 is annoying but I can live with it.

Unlike the 6515, at least the 69xx will play audio over a bluetooth non A2DP headset (the 6515 will only work with phone calls... no MP3, no GPS voice directions).
