Screen Problem - Vertical Lines

About a month ago I purchased the 8300, occasionally when I opened the phone the screen would be filled with vertical lines. Closing it and re-opening it would fix the problem, but after 4-5 time I went to Verizon and got a replacement. Sure enough, the replacement phone did the same thing.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea what is causing it or how to fix it?

EARPIECE RECEPTION

A number of people on this forum have complained about the reception through the earpiece being spotty. I have found that if you change the PRIVACY setting to OFF that the earpiece reception improves noticeably. Has anyone else had experience with this?

EXTERNAL SCREEN - 8100 VS 8300

LIVING IN SOUTH FLORIDA, SEEING THE EXTERNAL SCREEN IN THE DAYTIME CAN REALLY BE AN ISSUE FOR ME. CALLER ID ON THE FRONT SCREEN IS ONLY GOOD IF YOU CAN SEE IT.
I CURRENTLY HAVE THE 8100 & LOVE IT. IS IT WORTH IT FOR ME TO UPGRADE TO THE 8300 OR IS THE DIFFERENCE ON THE EXTERNAL SCREEN ENOUGH THAT I WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED?

lg8300 vs lg6100

Just got the 8300 after 2 years with the
lg6100. While the 8300 has several new
features. It has also lost many of the
basic features that the 6100 had.
The 8300 lacks the lens cover...
Also, voice calling you have to push the
side bar to use. The 6100 worked as soon
as the phone was opened.
Overall... 8300 appears to be a decent
phone.

Merry Christmas to All

8300 or 8100??

Hi, I just signed up with verizon again and I got the LG 8300 for a phone. I used to have verizon and I had the LG 8100. I loved that phone with the blinking light in the front, but they have discontinued it. Does anyone know if it was a bad phone and that is why it is gone? Is there a difference? Should I just be happy with the 8300 or get an 8100 on ebay and sell this one? Any help would be great, Thanks and happy holidays!

Battery charging

Last night when I was sleeping I was awoken by a beep from my 8300. I was charging the phone with the phone on. After the beep I looked at the phone, thinking it was a text message, which it was not. The phone was fully charged and I believe it was notification advising the battery was charged. Am I correct, and if so how do I turn that notification off? Thanks.

Folders for pictures?

Is there any way you can set up folders or lock out some pictures so you need a password to view them? I looked in the manual, but I did see anything.
Thanks

Trade Motorola Q for LG VX-8300

I have had the Motorola Q for about two months now and really like it. The problem is that I do not use all of its features enough to continue paying for the extra stuff. I would like to go back to a regular cell phone, namely, the LG. I would like to talk to someone interested in a straight up trade, LG VX-8300 for a Motorola Q. My Q is in perfect condition. There is nothing wrong with it, I just do not use it enough to keep it. We can each cover our own shipping. The only thing I ask is that if you are interested, we discuss it offline. The Q really is in great condition and I would like to trade for a LG in the same state. My email is pmoughan@gmail.com. If interested, please email me or respond to this thread.

Bluetooth Echo Problem, any ideas?

I have paired my 8300 with several headsets (Motorola h500, Jabra 160 and Jabra 350, Plantronics etc.) and the call is fine on my end but the person I am calling is hearing an echo of their own voice with every word they say. I have exchanged headsets for the same one to determine if it were defective as well as turned the volume down and still the same issue. Could this be a problem with the phone? I never had an issue with the 8100. Thanks.

Music player question - Working, Not Working.

Excuse the long set-up: A month ago, for several days, I tried to get the music player to work. Unlocked it using the secret menu, formatted card, moved mp3's into correct folder, etc. Result is it doesn't work so, I put it aside (with family and work I can only give so much time to my toys). Yesterday I programmed using *22899. A little while later I was driving with my phone on my belt and heard music playing (outside buttons got pushed accidently). Lo and behold, it works. I can listen to music. I turn phone off for night and today I try it again only to get the same 'No Songs Found in Memory' error message I've gotten many times before. So, I programmed again and can play music. Turn phone off and no music with same error message...

Speakerphone/Voice Dial (old vs new tech)

Is there a way to set up this phone so you can use the speakerphone with the flip closed? This is probably the only thing I'd have a problem with in choosing this phone.

Also, is the voice dial capable of distinguishing between various numbers for one person? In other words, can I use voice dial to call someones cell, home, or office without having separate phone book entires for each?

In general, how does voice dial work on this phone? Is it like "drive mode" on my current LG (4650)? I like the old style where you press a button and merely say a name. Do you press a button, and then have to answer prompts from the phone?

I'm basically in a deadlock between the 8300 and the Samsung SCH A930 (some up with a more simple name for god'...

8300 backlighting?

Hello there. I recently got the Razr and to be honest, not that impressed by it other than the size and ease of putting it in your pocket. Thinking of getting rid of it while I still have about a week left on my return policy and getting the LG 8300. My question is this. Can anyone tell me how the backlighting is on the keypad? My old LG, which I had several years ago worked great but it was hard to see the keypad at night for texting. Is this light bright or stillkind of dim so hard to see the letters. Any info appreciated. Thanks

Any use for data cable if you have memory card and reader?

I was thinking about picking up the music essentials kit because I could get the data cable and stereo headset (don't care about the software.) If I don't need the cable, I'll just get some OEM headphones cheap and let that be the end of it. Any advice?
thanks

Follow on to the 8300?

Just wondering if there was any word on a follow up phone to the 8300. I know the chocolate and the 8600 slim phone are very popular, so I'm just curious if they are going to make another regular flip phone.

Thanks

calendar reminder question

My calendar's event reminder activates 15 minutes prior to the actual event. LG set the default to 15 minutes prior to the event. I have looked all over the manual trying to change the default to the "on time" setting to no avail. I know that I can set it to "on time" when I enter something into the calendar, but that is one extra step I would like to avoid every time I enter an event on the calendar.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice provided!!!
