Anybody make Vista work with Media Player and VX8300?

Has anyone been able to make Media Player under Vista work with the VX8300? It doesn't detect the phone on my Vista Business machine. BitPim sees it though. I saw a note on a Verizon site that promised a fix by late May 07. What exactly is the problem and what kind of fix will be required?

Broadband Access & BT

I'm getting ready to get a new phone and the 8300 is a serious contender for me. I currently am using a Samsung I730...but am sick of carrying a PDA around all the time...and just want a phone.

One sticking point...I need to use the phone as a modem for Broadband Access and prefer to use bluetooth and not a cable. Are there any known issues with this on the 8300? Is the connection with BT pretty reliable for DUN purposes? I've been reading some complaints about variations in headset BT quality...but this is much less of a concern for me.

TIA

VX8300 V.03 2GB microSD?

I've read from some sites here that the VX8300 with version 03 firmware will recognize a 2GB memory card. However, when I e-mailed LG support about this question, here is what they replied:

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics. Your e-mail has been received.

The maximum capacity of memory for the microSD card supported by the phone is 1GB. If you use a higher capacity card, only 1GB of that memory will be accessible.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns. Thank you again for contacting LG Electronics. "

So is this right? I don't want to waste the money on replacing my 1GB card if it won't gain me any sotrage room.

BTW, just as an aside, I've never had so much troub...

Newbie Helps for the 8300

Being somewhat of a newbie, I've been cobbling together some helps and shortcuts for this great cell phone.

I will post them here and I encourage others to add theirs in subsequent posts. Then in a week or so we can put them all together and make a great and quick read for the phone and maybe help some people just getting it. (I think this is called a "Sticky" on some forums...)

What do you think?

Step by step to enable mp3: Two part process.
To enable outside phone buttons to play mp3:
From main screen press OK and then the number 0 seven times (you’ll see a series of question marks disappear). Then scroll all the way down and press #11 (Music Setting). Finally, choose My mp3.

To get MP3s to play, including ringtones –...

listening to prerecorded messages

Please help!

Used to have vx3200, and now vx8300. With the first one, I easily could record voice memo, and later to listen it via earphone, or internal speaker - what a nice feature! I like privacy, I like using earphone. Now, with 8300 although recording message ( I do it rather than manually putting reminders to Palm - to much annoyance) is a breeze, yet I cannot playback them other then via external speakers. Is there any way to 'redirect' playback to internal speaker or earphone?

Please respond hear or to pzawadzki@hotmail.com.

ThankS!

Bluetooth Problems may be over (8300) - New headset on the block

Guys

Went to Radio Shack today and saw the new Plantronics 330A.. This replaces the 320 which was decent.

This mostly pertains to the 8300 people and 8100 people.

I am a huge 8300 fan but tested more than 50 headsets and they all stink with the 8300.

This seems like it's a real winner. I only have it for 1 hour so give me a little time but so far it's awesome.. No echo to the other caller and the call quality is off the charts good..

How about you cant raise the volume above about 50% , it's so powerful.. Which is great for loud envirements..

Well guys, I thilnk this might be the one !!!

More to come later tonight !

RIngtones Directly onto MiniSD w/ card reader?

Does anyone know if you can use a card reader and transfer ring tones directly onto a mini-SD card once you've made them? Maybe something using bitpim? I know I can still email them to myself or go buy a cable but it would be easier to use a card reader if possible.

Jawbone and the VX8300 - Review

First let me say I am not one for giving a review until I have had something for quite a while. But, I am giving this one with only having this unit a short period of time because it is hard to find and my great finding so far.

Anyway, I was the very first in my area to purchase the VX8300 when if first came out. Very excited because I wanted blue tooth head set capability. That being said, I was less then impressed. We have had many discussions here about blue tooth and this phone. I don’t think anyone has been totally happy with any headset.

I have had a Motorola HS820 (I think that was the model) and gave it away. Was ok as a back up unit. My next one was a Plantronics 510. I liked this unit (until I lost it) but still it was not ...

Stereo Bluetooth - Music Only

On accident, I set my phone to send music only through my bluetooth headphones (calls are not routed through the headphones). This worked out great, because I prefer to take calls through the handset when headphones are connected.

I had my phone replaced but cannot find out how to re-enable this option. A call to Verizon, LG and Motorola (using the BT820 stereo headphones) were not able to help.

I've found you can manually make this change on a call-by-call basis. However, this takes a few seconds and I find myself saying "hold on" as soon as I answer the phone to make this shift. Occasionally, I'll take the headphones off and I forget they are paired. When someone calls, it sounds like dead air before I remember bluetoooth is s...

reset/problems with texting

i currently have the vx8300 and ive recently had some problems with the sending of text messages, usually when you would go to send the text msg it would usually go into the sent folder, now for some reason nothing is going into the sent folder i was thinking that maybe doing a phone reset would correct the problem but i cant figure out how to do that either. does anyone know how i might be able to fix this?

2 Gb Micro SD?

I've read in two places where VX8300 users were able to get a 2 Gb micro SD card to work on their phone. One phonescoop forum message indicates the trick is formatting the card on your PC with the proper folders. Does anyone have specific information on how to do this, or a web site that explains it? Thanks.

is there a missed call/VM/txt reminder beep?

When you have a missed call/voicemail/text message, does this phone have the capability to have a beep (or vibrate) to remind you?

I find it annoying that I have to check my phone every time I leave the room and come back.

My past two Motorolas beeped every few minutes or so when you missed something. Is this just a Motorola feature?

Plantronics 510 sometines answers, sometimes transfers to phone

My wife and I have both had VX8300s and Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headsets since last July. We haven't used the bluetooth headsets much because of answering problems. About half of the time when we push the button on the headset to answer, the headset answers fine and the other half of the time it transfers to the phone. We are careful to only answer with a short push of the button, but it does not seem to matter. We just had both phones updated to software version 03 and came home and tested the headsets about 12 times, with the same results. The headsets work 100% of the time when making a call and my wife uses hers for making calls on a regular basis. We don't have any echo problems, just this erratic answer problem. I woul...

face plates or color battery covers

My wife wants a pink (or other pretty color) faceplate or at least a battery cover. All I can find are snap on covers, which I assume just go over top of the phone rather than replacing the existing ones and will just add bulk and weight. She had a VX6100 and was happy just to replace the battery door with a pink one. Is anyone aware of a faceplate and/or battery door cover replacement available for this phone?
