Sony Ericsson W810

Hey all. I'm as eager to get this phone when Cingular releases it. For those who have this phone already... is it possible to get it insured through the carrier even if it is not released yet?

Has anyone been able to pull off getting stuff off of the cingular website, like games, apps, and what not? I tried putting the w600i as my choice since it's really almost the same platform. Each time I click on buy though it just says "404 file not found". Just thought I'd ask if anyone found a work around yet, other than waiting for it to be released on the website. 🙂

I just got the Sony HBH-DS970 headset...does anyone know how to get the MP3 player functions to work with the Sony w810i phone? I was told that the w810i isn't on the sony "official" list of compatible phones (b/c the w810i doesn't have A2DP???), but that it should work.

Hi, i got my w810i a few days ago and watched the phonescoop review for the phone and noticed the main menu icons were different to the ones on my phone. I was wondering, how do you get those black and white icons because i cant find out how to from anywhere else ☹️

A simple and elegant way to protect your w810 camera lense (for less than $20) is to mod it with the black k750i back cover with the sliding lens cover. Order the k750 back cover and battery cover from www.cnn.cn. The only permanent modification is the removal of two clips from the k750 back cover to make it fit flush with the w810. The black paint is a perfect match, speaker quality is maintained, and the camera lens lines up. For detailed instructions, search the howardforums.com 'Sony Ericsson' message boards.

Now I have lens protection, and my w810 will look unique when Cingular finally releases it to the masses.

After waiting for months for Cingular to release it, all the while dealing with a glitchy, worn, and tired T637, I finally bit the bullet and picked one up from eBay for $330 shipped. Needless to say, the phone is fantastic. While not as flashy in appearance as some of the other phones on the market, it is sturdy, small, and feature-filled -- really almost all you would want in a mobile. I highly recommend it.

I've heard about SE phones having problems working with Acura's HandsFreeLink system. I thought I read somewhere that the latest firmware fixed this issue though. I'd like to confirm this before purchasing this phone however. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!!

i'm having a problem updating the firmware on this phone. everytime i try to install it and then it restarts, it says "upgrade failed, server will be contacted with details" or something. anyone know what the prob is?

i am new to the forum an am looking at purchasing a unlocked w810i. will this work with cellular one gsm without any problems?

hey i was reading through different threads on some other website. i came across a post regarding how to remove the service logo. for example i use tmobile .so it says "TMO" on top in white the whole time. i can get annoying at times. But anyway, that process seemed a lil too wierd and risky.
My main question is does anyone know how to remove the service logo from this phone?

Another guy says it drains the battery. I don't know, I personally would get one just to see if it works, and if it doesn't I can just throw it in my cybershot or PSP...Gotta love those Sony products! 🙂

Anyway, my question(s) is, Does anyone have any experience with a 4 gig card in their W810? Does it really drain the battery that badly? is it fast?

Does anyone know if this phone will work with T-mobile as well?

Hey. I'm debating on the Rokr e2 or the 810i. The E2 is not yet released in the U.S. and the release date has been pushed back ever since the 1st quarter. I used 2 call Moto and they would tell which month it is set for. Now, they can't give not so frank "I don't know". I'm ready 2 say forget it. Been waitin since January. The 810 I am very impressed with but on a cnet review (http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_Ericsson_W810i/ 4505-6454_7-31661177.html) the bad part about it is that "it suffers from staticky call quality and glitchy music transfer software. Also, it lacks a Bluetooth stereo profile, and the integrated memory is limited to 20MB." I would like to know, how is the call quality for you? How do u feel about having to use headp...

Where is it?

hey everytime i turn my phone off and back on for any reason. The custom background goes back to blank. Also my customized shortcuts (up for alarm)(right for calender) both go back to default again too which was (up for walkman) and (right for empty slot) again.. Has anyone else expierenced that?

Could this mean the W810 is right around the corner??? 😳

Called my buddy from customer service in Oklahoma City yesterday morning. He informed me that the RAZR V3I is too buggy and cingular will not be releasing it...soooo, they are going to be releasing the W810 August 1st or 8th. I then asked him how sure he is of the date. All he said is thats what they (upper management) are telling him.

My thoughts are now with the V3I with itunes gone, cingular will be pushing a music phone. What better phone than the W810...well, i can only dream...

Ok, I have 2 questions for W810i users out there...

1st question: can you use a small (or any size) 3gp file as a video ringtone?

2nd question: can you use any 1 to 3 second sound clip in mp3 format as a message tone?
