Unite, and DRAG the release date out of VZW!!!

Alright, so I'm sick of all the guessing. Here is an email address to the executive office at VZW: execoffice.socal@verizonwireless.com

I've used it before, and with enough pressure, something always seems to break loose. The responses are sort of cookie cutter, but there is actually someone typing them in, because while the message is the same, the verbage always differs a bit.

Anywho, fire 'em off boys. And keep at it. Eventually, they'll get the ok to talk to one of us, and we'll be the first to KNOW.

Not so impressed

After watching the preview from phonescoop, I am now less impressed than prior to watching. I currently have the Treo 700w, and I'm in no rush to trade it in to get the Q. Anyone else feel the same?

gps & wifi websurfing (via mini sd)

Regarding the "mini SD slot" on the Q, any ideas if a miniSD "wifi card" will allow you to surf the web without paying for Verizon's internet plan? (provided, of course, you're in a wifi hotzone; i.e. airport, coffeeshop, etc.)

I don't need 24/7 access to my e-mail/web/etc. But it would sure be nice to be able to pop online when you're in a hotzone.

And secondly, I've been reading about the mini-SD GPS cards. Since the Q has the mini-sd slot, does that mean i would be able to use the phone as a GPS unit as well? Or can we assume that Verizon will disable the installation of third party software (not the standard GIN b.s.)

Many thanks!

is as good as the upcoming Sony Ericsson P990i?

It looks like the Blackberry functions in a Windows based so it is better by far compare to Blackberry BUT is it better than the Sony Ericsson P990i?

P990i comes with:
- Pen recognition (also has scroll on the side)
- Touch Screen
- 2 Mega Pixel Camera

only down side is, it's a Symbian Software where most consumer are familiar with Windows.
and Oh yeah, the price P990i is much more

Q is delayed for 3 months......

I am not going to defend my source. I promise you guys.....if you are waiting for the Q. You are in for a longer wait. I have gotten the Razor, V810(never was released for verizon but I have one that has verizon logos and works perfect), V710, E815 ......all from this guy 3 to 4 months before they were released by Verizon. Infarct I have the transflash version of the V3c now! He was told that the Q has been delayed by 3 months. Why I DOT know.

I am posting his emailed response to me, today.

Tim,

As far as the Q, it has been pushed back 13 weeks. I will get some
when they start to ship. I am still waiting for H5's. Should be soon, I
hope.

The only response I am posting this is because I trust his judgement. Its better to k...

Wow, that is some phone

Thanks for the preview. The phone looks awesome. I wish you had shown the Outlook email function connecting to an exchange server. The screen seems small but clear.

qwerty keyboards - Q, treo, RIM, and others

to answer as many questions about the Q keyboard as i can, i'm going to try and put this all into one thread instead of answering individual device keyboard ?s all over the place. call me lazy.

the Q keyboard is made out of a very hard plastic. each key is highly domed or rounded on top, so you can feel each individual key. when keys are pressed, they don't move very far, but they do make a little click. although i found the feel of the keyboard cold and unresponsive, as i've said, it was easy to type on.

the treo keys are fairly hard plastic, slightly larger and not as domed as the Q's keys. they don't make as much of a click when pressed. i don't like the feel of treo keyboards, but they are just as easy (or hard) to use as the Q's k...

Q compared to Treo 700 and 650

Sorry, a bit of a re-post, but this may deserve its own discussion. Just looking for any sorta feedback regarding the Q to the Treo's.

I want something I can type on and I don't think the keys on the Treo are big enough. If the Q is very similar, I may opt for a BB 8700 instead.

Wait for Moto Q or not?

I have been waiting for the Q, but my old samsung is being held together with velcro and I don't think it will hold out much longer. If it's only a couple of weeks I can hold on. Much longer and I can't. So, do I wait for the Q, do I get a RAZR for the interim, or do I jump ship to the Blackberry 7130, the Treo 650 or 700 or the XV6700? I'd like a smart phone with voice dialing that several of these don't have. I'm at a loss what to do. HELP!

End of April

K folks... got to talk to a Motorola rep today who had one of these... I got to play with it and think it's pretty cool, but definitely needs more testing done... he said the new "tenative" date is now end of April. Will let you know if I hear anything else... also, look for LBS to start coming to more Verizon phones in the future.

size

Is it just me or is this thing seem a little big. I know it is thin, but the other dimensions are larger than the blackberry 7130, palm 700, samsung i730. The width is kinda of scary, i hate the blackberry 7250 because it feels like i am talking on a calculator, the width of this has me wondering if i might be thinking the same.

Q will have different name

Wirelessadvisor thread says Q will be named differently for Verizon. I bet it will add a number like ROKR E1, E2, SLVR L2, L6, L7.

Need Some Help...Pocket PC or a SmartPhone

Good afternoon everyone. Please pardon the subject line, however, I have not received proper advice from VZW on this subject, so I thought I would ask my peers.

So here's my question. I am not a big blackberry fan (especially with everything that is going on right now), however, I am a pocket pc fanatic. I truly cant live without my current pocket pc, and as of late, have not been able to get away from email (work issues). Currently my mobile email solution has been taking my laptop with me on the road, and using the VZW PC Card to access the EVDO network. It works great, but lugging the laptop in and out of security at airports, and in the car to simply access email and spreadsheets, is a bit of a pain. I need a better solution.

I und...
