Anyone know what the deal is with these phones for sale on Ebay? There are a few people selling them.. Can they be used now? with Verizon? Is this just scam to presell you a phone?

More 411 on the Q ...

It's a great little gadget, that I have to admit, for a few specific reasons ...

- It's VERY thin and small in profile
- Great WM 5.0 OS
- Doesn't compromise screen size
- Together with Verizon's network, it's a great match

... and most important ...

- It's going to drive the price of the better 700w down!

Again, I have to admit, the 700w is the better mobile office tool. Mostly because of its useage options - touchscreen is key - and it's awesome third-party programs. I have tested both for a consumer wireless organization (as well as the 6700, 650, etc.)

"Marketing" expects the Q to announce on VZW 2nd or 3rd week of April and available in stores on or about the 4th week. It will be available first online, but you can ...

www.forbes.com: Motorola Q release "within the next couple weeks"

The article link is below and the specific paragraph states:

"The analyst also said demand remained strong for the SLVR phone at Cingular, and the recent price cut of the PEBL phone at T-Mobile led to improving sell-through trends. He expects Motorola's new Q-phone to have a successful launch at Verizon (nyse: VZ - news - people ) Wireless stores within the next couple of weeks."

Video iPod?

A friend of mine just came over to my home with a video iPod, and I noticed that the dimensions look similar to those of the Motorola Q, so I decided to look it up.

Motorola Q: 4.57 x 2.52 x 0.47
Video iPod: 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.6

Now I have a better idea of what the Q would feel like in my hands.

Long Note to "Ron" at VZW

This is long, but I think I summed it up fairly well. It may have been a waste of time, but it made me feel better. Let me know what you think.

Ron,

I appreciate your responses. As a stand alone consumer, I realize that an individual probably doesn't merit a great deal of consideration, but I feel compelled to provide some constructive feedback. Please forward this message to whatever persons that may benefit from its content.

Verizon Wireless is an excellent service provider. I have been almost universally happy with the reception and support that has been part and parcel of my experience as a VZW customer.

But, and there is always a but, Verizon has done a poor job of a couple of things:

First, as one of the few CDMA

Okay but how is it as a phone?

I liked the review you gave on the Windows Mobile application, but how good is it as a phone? It would be nice to see how it is held while on a call. Can the people that you call hear you well? I know that other phones, like the Samsung i730, are hard to hold to your head and be heard well. It would seem that this small form factor would have the same problem? Any experience using the phone function?

VZW Vanity Link...

For what it's worth, the following links appear to work at VZW...

http://www.vzw.com/motorolaq »
http://www.vzw.com/q »

They both redirect through to the store - this contrasts other links, such as http://www.vzw.com/somephone which states the page does not exist.

Progress? I'm fairly certain this did not work a week or so ago...

As I wrote before

What are you guys thinking? You are talking about VZW. This phone will not be out until the 3rd quarter of 2006. When it does come out it will not work correctly. I only say this because I have been a VZW customer for years, and if history does repeat itself, then expect this phone to do just what all of the other high end phones have done. Hope I'm wrong!

Interesting Articel Regarding Q Availability

http://www.thestreet.com/_googlen/tech/telecom/10276 ... »

After all of the speculation, the title of an article on thestreet.com (link above if it works) says it all, "Motorola Flubs Q Launch". Given the repeated delays, I would be very concerned about being an early adopter of the Q out of reliability/functionality fears.

Like many, I waited a fairly long time for the Q. When my old V60 finally died, I had no choice other than to get a new phone. I opted for the Treo 700 and went through three in two weeks. While I am very happy with the Treo, my experience suggests that QC issues are not limited to Moto products.

When (if) the Q finally hits the market, I am sure that it will be well rec...

Max Memory

http://men.style.com/news/gadgets/032706 » says:
"MP3 player with 512-MB expansion slot"

So is 512mb the max? Is it going to have the SLVR's 100 song limit?

Price anyone?

For existing VZW customers that do not yet qualify for NE2 the 700W is a STIFF $619 - anyone know what the Q will go for? I'm assuming around the same price and hoping it will drive the price of the 700W down a bit...

Convo with online Sales Rep about the Q

Hey guys, Not sure what to make of this, but I had the following convo with a VZW online sales rep, he ended the chat session prematurely, but here's what was said...

Please wait for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Your expected wait time is '0'. Thank you for your patience!

A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with 'Garth'

Garth: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?

You: Hi Garth, how are you. Any chance you could tell me what a treo 700w would cost me at retail price?

Garth: It is 619.

Garth: 619.99

You: Ok, any chance you could give me some sort of information on when the Motorol...
