Battery Life tips and info

We just received an email at our store regarding the A900's battery life. The life on the battery is consistent with most flip phones if you take a couple things into consideration:

1. Using Bluetooth will drastically cut your battery life because you're using another radio signal.

2. Turn the screen brightness down. Reports indicate that there is not much visible difference, although I do not have an A900 here yet to see for myself.

3. There's a known issue with the GPS function in the phone maintaining a constant signal, which drains the battery. Disabling the location feature could yield about a 33% increase in battery life. Disabling the location feature should not affect E911 services.

4. There is a known issue with the ...

Where to buy accessories for BLADE?

my sprint store doesn't offer chargers or batteries yet.

also, how do you get the rainbow of numbers changed on the dialing screen. I have the "post it note" for dialing but hate the rainbow.

Using a blue-tooth headset

Is it possible to hear the actual ringer through a blue-tooth headset? Ive played with all the settings I can think of and the best I can get is for the headset to beep, but not ring.

Can this phone sync via blue tooth with a Palm Treo 650?

I would like to keep my Treo, but want a smaller, thin phone.

Can I sync my address book between the two via blue tooth?

What software would I need? How would I do it.

Thanks for any help!

So I finally set an MP3 as my ringer...

sorta...

step 1: take the MP3 of your choice, and load it in an audio editor of your choice (i use Audacity because its free, easy, and works great)

step 2: edit said MP3 to ringtone leangth. add fade outs or whatever you want. its your ringtone. encode and compress it to whatever quality you think will sound good but still be of good size to fit on the phone.

step 3: you need a 3gupload.com locker account. unfortunatley they charge for this now (didnt it used to be free?) o well, $7 for 6 months of unlimited up/downloads aint so bad. compared to $2.50 a pop from sprint.

step 4: after you create your account, upload your mp3 to you locker. 3gupload will encode it for you.

step 5: from you phone, surf to your 3gupload loc...

BLADE 2?

Well I went to the Radio Shack in my area. And I was told by a Radio Shack rep that Sprint is coming out with a Blade 2. That will be better than the Blade. Hopefully it will have an extended battery life. He was told in a Sprint meeting. He says somewhere down the road. So I hope soon in 2006. Once I find out something I will post it.

Bluetooth range

Anyone having issues with short range using a bluetooth headset?
I am using an HS-850 and it breaks up and gets static if I have it more than about 2 feet from my phone! If I hold the phone at arms length it breaks up?
Is that normal?
Is it a problem with the headset?
For the most part they have gotten good reviews.

You Can Sync With Pocket PC

If you high light your entire contact list you can send it to the phone by blue tooth. but make sure you for your business contacts you give them a first name or a last name (not as company). if you don't they will come up as no name.

Software update is out

YL02 was released for the phone and you can update it over the air. There are rumors of a software update fixing the picture mail issue. I am assuming there is another one coming as this one did nothing for the "Data channel not enabled" error and that is what the update is supposed to fix. There were rumors of one being released in mid December, not sure if this was it or if there is another coming.

To update OTA is is Menu> Settings> Others> Update Phone Software

Any UConnect users out there?

I've got a 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T with UConnect and at first the A900 (Sprint) would connect over Bluetooth, but then the connection would fluctuate. I discovered that doing a software update would fix the problem, so I accessed the software update through the phone settings menu.

The phone now connects flawlessly, however, neither the navigation screen or the EVIC (LED message center under spedometer) shows the battery or signal strength. A lot of other phones display this data. Do I need to change a setting in the phone or within UConnect or does this phone just not transmit that data?

Given that this phone uses a very up-to-date Bluetooth version, I find this odd. Any help on this?

Music Store displays on the External Screen

My friend's phone can have cute little displays as she plays her music from the Sprint Music Store on the external screen. I get some boring thing on mine. Has anybody figured it out how? We both have the Samsung A900. Thanks.

P.S. Talked to a Sprint Tech last night, the new updated software by the end of the week, hopefully!
