closing problem?

I heard that a lot of people are having problems with this phone. If they move their hand a little bit and the phone starts to slide close the call hangs up. Any comments?

bad reception? you're kidding.

The w600, while buggy as hell, does do one thing right: signal strength. Using Cingular in socal, the w600 holds calls in places no other GSM phone i own can.

I work in a canyon area near thousand oaks where i can only get reception outdoors - and only if i'm using a phone with 800MHz GSM capabilities. But not only can the w600 make and recieve calls outdoors at my office, but it will hold onto a usable signal indoors. No other GSM phone i have tested can do this - including the razr and 6230b.

I will say, however, that the w600 is rather slow at regaining signal after it has been lost - possibly because it's quad-band.

Oh, and beware of the white screen of death (screen goes white - phone never works again). It's already happened ...

Voice Recorder and iSync Questions

How much voice recording can you do with the W600? Will it replace a pocket recorder and take up to an hour of audio notes like the Nokia 6230i? Can you configure a button so that recordings can be made with a single step or a press of that button?

Also, can you sync the phone and all multi-media (including voice recordings) with a Mac?

Thanks,
Bill

Text messages

I send alot of text messages. The phone that I have now saves the last 10 recent numbers that I have sent a message to, which makes it easy to send text messages instead of having to type the number each time. Does this phone have something like that? Thanks for your help

Will I be able to....

Ok, I really like this phone. I want it! What's stopping me? This:

No iTap, but T9 (I dont like T9 at all)

I have also noticed that the phone doesn't have ringer profiles. Does this mean that I wont't be able to assign each person in my phonebook a ringtone?
I have a Moto v557. I am VERY used to iTap (love it) but I could do without it. Now, if I can't assign each person in the phonebook a different ringtone... I won't get this phone. That'll be my turning point. Please help! ☚ī¸

Expanding the w600i Memory

Now this maybe a stretch... And I've just been reading about how the memory is not exandable. I have not yet recived my w600i.

Would it be possible to use the bluetooth to communicate with a PDA that has a memory card in it?

I have an HP ipaq that has a SD memory card in it and I can transfer files between it and my old T637 just fine. I'm just curious if its a possibility to access the files from my PDA on the w600i and play them on the fly. Essentially expanding my memory.

If anyone has any thoughts on this let me know. Remember I dont have my phone yet so I havent had a chance to attempt it myself.

Thanks,
Chris

W600i - Calendar sync from Outlook - screenshot?

Can anyone point me toward a screenshot of what a day's worth of appointments looks like on a W600i (or any SE phone where the calendar looks the same) after having been downloaded from Outlook?

I like everything I've read about this phone and am considering buying one, but I will need to utilize the sync function to carry my Outlook calendar with me, and I'd like to see what it looks like.

Phone Will not work

Just got the phone today, went onto sonyericsson.com/fun to download some free wall papers, changed the start up image and now the phone will not turn on.

Is there anyway to do a master reset to the phone without going through the settings? Maybe a special keypress while turning on the phone?

this is for the se s710a to w600i users....please reply

what i am wanting to know is exact thoughts on what people who owned the 710 and now own the w600 think of the phones in comparison.

any opinions from users of both are greatly appreciated.

i know the phone is smaller and has no external memory now but has more memory than the highest memory card you can by for the 710.

i also hear the screen is smaller and lowered in color quality how do you guys feel about that and does it really affect the phone in comparison to the 710.

and would you say this is an upgrade or downgrade compared to the 710.

any other opinions are greatly appreciated

thanks
