Using MP3 Ringtones and NEW FIRMWARE

I know this has probably been posted before. But I'm needing to exchange out my 9800 for another one that has the new firmware. Mine has previous firmware. I know I can enable the MP3 player in the service menu. But will I still be able to upload my custom MP3 Ringtones via BitPim, like I can now with the previous firmware?

Thanks,
N.N

WOW!!! Samsung's answer to the 9900.

Have you seen the 9900's competition. What do you think about it?

2 Questions

1) Im looking at this phone, and the Q phone. Is this phone considered a smartphone? Does it run the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system?

2) Ill be using this as a pda - how are the calendar and task functions? Can 3rd party calendar applications be installed on this phone?

Thanks

Help, Please.

My roommate has the LG 9800 and I have the 8100. Neither of us can figure out what exactly "auto-retry" is suppose to do. Does anyone know? I would greatly appreciate your input.

Picture ID's

for contacts that have a picture ID, is it possible to have JUST the pic show up on the front screen when they call rather than all the info (number, type, and name)? When a contact calls, the pic is really really small and for those contacts i would rather have just the picture show up

A couple of questions

I notice that whenever i try to send really long text messages like 5/7 messages long or longer, not only does it take the phone longer to send them out but it fails sending them out for a few times. Is that normal? I'm curious. Also, I heard that there's a way to get "free"internet on our phones. Could someone please exlain to me how to go about doing so. THanks.

What's a fair price to ask for this?

I have a brand new 9800m that is unopened that I am looking to sell but I don't know what a fair price is. I was thinking around $280. Does this sound about right?

My VX9800 S/W 02 WILL NOT PLAY MP3s-Expert needed!!!

OK, I have the 02 S/W version LG VX9800 which everyone says to keep (vs. upgrading to S/W 05)because the 02 will play MP3s. Verizon says that 05 will also play MP3s but I have heard otherwise. Do I upgrade to 05 or can someone out there give me a helping hand loading an MP3 into my phone. Tried dragging a song from a CD to the memory card but the message I get when I click on My MP3s in the phone is that no songs found in memory card. The memory card was formatted. The phone is set to MOD/MP3. I have tried going through Windows Media Player, etc. Hope to hear from someone who is familiar with this and can maybe call me on the phone to walk me through this.

Moving contacts from Dell Axim to vx9800?

Just bought VX 9800. I have all my phone numbers etc on my Dell Axim right now. Is there any way to easily transfer them to the phone? (I see an option on the Axim to "export to xml." Does this provide a way?)

Thanks for any assistance.

MP3 editing for ringtones

I have bitpim, the cable, and I'm able to set mp3's as ringtones with no problem. However, I remember thread a while back that someone mentioned a program that you could cut/splice/edit mp3's but I don't recall the name of it. Anyone know the program or have a good suggestion for one? Thanks much.

Volume on phone

Ok i noticed that on the 9800 you have to put the ringer volume up louder in order to both hear the ringer and hear the voice say whose calling if you've got the voice command mode set to announce alerts. I mean compared to the 8100 and the 8300 whose speakers are located on the outside of the phone, our phone seems like you've got to raise the volume up a bit. For ex. on the 8100 you can set it to medium and still hear the alerts and ringer. On the 9800, you have to set it t medium loud or max it out cause i guess the speakers are located on the inside. Does anybody here agree with me? Just wondering...
