how is the build quality?

Meaning, how tight is everything? I've had a couple other vxxx's and because they typically have removable plates they kinda feel a little loose and creaky when you open and close.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

How is that step by step guide going?

Would you say?

Would you say that the V635 is more similar in size and weight to Cingular's V551 than it is Verizon's E815?

Thanks.
Rachael.

SMS Storage and Video length

I just want to know how to change the sms settings so that they are stored on the trans-flash and not the sim because mine can only hold about 16 messages.
Also is there any way to change the video settings so it only stops recording when the memory runs out? Mine can take lots of videos about 1 min long but I want it to be able to record longer videos. 🙂

HELP! - Questions for those using this phone with a US carrier

So this is the phone I want. I currently have my old AT+T contract, which was acquired by Cingular. However, I don't want any current Cingular phone - they're all pretty low on features compared to this model.

Few questions:

Will Motorola ever release this phone in the US, and if not, is there a comparable model they plan to release? I mean, why would they make a Quad band phone and not release it in the US?

Can I simply take my SIM card from my Nokia phone and put it in this phone, and still get my current service, internet features, etc?

To people with this phone - is it reliable? And if it breaks, is it true that I won't be able to get any tech support from Motorola or Cingular, even through a warranty?

If and when I upgrad...

PLEASE HELP!! Carrier/SIM question

Question for you guys...

No one has had any info about sending MMS messages to other carriers (cingular to T-Mobile for example) on the V635...so, I was wondering:

What would happen if I switched out a Cingular SIM from an unlocked V635 and put in a T-Mobile SIM?? Could the V635 then send MMS files from the TF card to other T-Mobile users????

PLEASE tell me thoughts/ideas on this...It's frustrating to have a great phone and not know if it's the phone/carrier etc. for this MMS issue (will NOT go through to other carriers!!)

Also, anyone know the deal if someone has an AT&T phone? Why wouldn't MMS SOUND files go through from Cingular? It's an AT&T Samsung E316, that displays Cingular on the phone, but was originally purchased th...

MP3s as rigntones...

I'm starting a new thread b/c there are so many non-browser related questions in that string...

I have never used the MPT software/USB cable that came with the phone...I do not know how complicated it is to use...BUT, I use the memory card for music/photo transfer and it's very simple. If this helps...

Your phone should have come with at least a 16MB TransFlash card, AND a SD adapter. If you have them already, you just need a computer and a card reader/writer that works with SD cards...Got that?

Okay, well you should have some MP3s on your computer, but if you don't/want to use something from a CD, I suggest iTunes to import and convert MP3s. You should be able to get it for free.

I don't know how much detail you need...BU...

V635 to send MMS to other service...

Don't know if you guys know this one...

Is this my phone or am I missing something in the connection...Is it at all possible to send an MMS (picture or sound) from a Cingular phone (my V635) to a T-Mobile phone (V300)?? We have tried using the email address (mobile#@tmomail.net) of the phone and we keep getting an error. I tried sending an mp3 file from my hotmail email to the phone email (tmomail.net) to test again so it won't cost me a wasted MMS from my mobile. By the way it seems Sprint is still harder to get through to as well...But I thought T-Mobile would be a little nicer to the MMS...Can't figure if it IS my V635 settings...?!

Does anyone know the problem?
Is that something with my outgoing/their incoming settings? Is th...

BROWSER settings...Help!

I have tried to find information about setting up the internet etc. features and I am coming up short...

Cingular stores do not have a clue, and no one at customer care seems to be able to track it down readily...I was hoping someone has a list of the settings??

Does anyone have the V635 fully functional in the US? How about the "Great Lakes" area?

Text messaging works, phone calls and voicemail are okay...No picture messaging and I'm sure I can't have ringtones sent (since they're browser messages from the cingular site). Any help out there?

What is o2 by the way?

Anyone get rid of the German/other language parts still left on the phone (quick notes and in predictive dictionary)?

Any help would be appreciated.

SMS Outgoing ?? Help!

Hey guys,

All of a sudden I can't send an SMS message from my phone...All was good, and just checked GPRS via web (MEdia Net access no problem, even got into Yahoo Messenger) and that works...

Any ideas? When I tried a test message to a friend it just says sending in progress. Did that the other day and it still said in progress days later. Thought clearing out messages would help, but no luck. Haven't checked incoming yet, but thought you guys might know what's going on.

Also, anyone figure out how to get the chat/messenger apps via Java on the V635? Had it on my V600, but can't figure out how to get it on this one (tried a few times).

Thanks!

Here are the v635 probs

First,

This phone is hardly perfect out of the box, far from it. The chances are you will get the 24r flash(software) and it has many bugs. Problem 1. Voicemail. When you get a message you do not get a icon but a text message instead with a @ or a symbol!. You then get a second message after you check your mail. I do not use text messages so if you do the math you are looking at 20 cents for every message and yes it adds up.

Problem 2.

The video recording with 24r is terrible. The sound is 1 to 2 seconds off from the pictures and for me is a waste.

Problem 3. Forget about the fast forward cradle. I use to save 500 min a month with my v400 but you guessed it, it will not work with the v635 no matter what the flash you have.

Ot...

Problems with V635

I was reading some of the posts at Howard Chui's site. Some people are having problems with the phone. They lock up, restart by themselves, dont have all the functionalities available. They had to SEEM edit or tweak their phone to get to work properly with Cingular. Now my question is, all of you that have the phone, does it work like its supposed to. I am about to buy it and I dont want to regret a $275 decision. Does the text indicator work well, does the voicemail indicator? everything works like it should or did you guys have to edit your phones as well?
Thanks.

Help with writing messages!

Hi. I used to own a V400 from Cingular. Now I have an unlocked V635. When I try to write a text message, it is near impossible because it automatically fills the word for me or won't let me access letters past the first one, even when it's not the word I want!

For example, on my V400, as I typed a word, it would give me suggestions but I would actually have to press the arrow button or something similar to fill it in with that word. If I want to type "hello", I just have to press the GHI key twice, then the DEF key twice, etc.

Now on my V635, if I try to type the word "hello", it doesn't even let me press the GHI key twice to get to the H. Instead, it just becomes Ii.

Can anyone help?
