Outside Display

I just got the LG VX-8100 yesterday. I haven't been able to figure out how to keep the outside display screen on. After about 2 minutes the display disappears and I am left with a blank gray screen. How can I get the clock, background, etc to stay visible even when I am not using the phone?

Should Have waited for the 8300

😢 The 8300 says that Video is only limited by the memory. I would assume that if you are saving it to the memory card, you could record a long video. I wish I has waited. Only three months into my new contract.

Ring tones for LG 8100 ??!!

I just bought over the weekend the lg 8100. I basically like the phone but my biggest draw back is the lack of ring tones. I am with Verizon. Some of the sites I have gone to have the sounds that I want ( fire engine/siren, meow mix song, pac man sounds, etc) but they don't recognize Verizon as a carrier or the lg 8100 is not listed as a phone that is supported. I know you can record sounds onto your phone through My Sounds but they cannot be used as ring tones. My daughter just bought the Razr phone and she can record a sound through My Sounds and then do whatever and it can be used as a ring tone. I am torn about giving up this phone and going to the Razr but I like the function of the miniSD card. Is there any way to get the above rin...

How to delete ringtones

Is there any way to delete default ringtones, and more importantly is there any way to delete user made ringtones? I created an mp3 ringtone in bitpim, transfered it to the phone, and realized it was too quiet so I deleted it from the filesystem. But it still shows up as a choice (and of course makes no sound) on the phone. Do I delete my_ringtone.dat and/or my_ringtonesize.dat so the list will update?

MP3/WMA Player & Removable Disc Questions! PLEASE HELP

I just jumped over to Verizon because I was sick of my Motorolla phone from Cincinnati Bell (it was not a RAZR though LOL).

OK so my friend had a card reader and we put my card into it's adapter after saving a picture to the card to format it. We moved a bunch of my mp3s into the "my music" section and the music wouldn't work.

I don't have Windows XP so we went to his house and installed the Verizon disc and stuff that came with the music essentials kit. We copied it all one more time the way it said and the mp3 still didn't work. So we then realized it needs to be WMA, we converted one of my songs to wma and switched it over through the verizon system and it worked. Then we found a thread on this site that had a hack or something ...

That Darn MP3 player

ok...
I've read some posts on the mp3 player, I've formated the card in the phone, I'm set the mp3 thing on so I guess I can do both mp3s and wmas. So I throw the card in and try to copy and paste a song on and it says the card is "write-protected" does anyone know how to get songs on here?!?! And I've tried putting stuff on with the lock thing both up and down so don't yell at me about that, If someone could explain in some detail about getting some kind of music on my phone I'd realllllly appretiate it

Voice Command and Traing Voice Recognition

I shouldn't have opened my mouth before when I stated I just got my phone and reading the booklet many questions (that are posed on here)are answered in the book and CD-ROM. I have a pamplet included with the phone called "Quick Reference Guide" - but there seems to be no in-depth book on each facet of the phone. Did I miss it or is there not anything written on how to do voice command and training the phone to recognize your voice? If there isn't anything written (I am new to Verizon) - how do you use that part of the phone?

Thanks

Music Essential Included cable

Does the cable included in the Music Essential Kit from Verizon work using BitPim? Or do I need to find a generic cable cable like I did for my VX6000 phone? The music essential kit sells for $20 at Verizonwireless.com.

Help me choose between these two headsets

After scouring these forums, I've narrowed down to what seem to be the two best choices for the 8100:

The Logitech Mobile Traveler

Jabra BT250V

I owned one headset in the past, the Jabra BT800, which worked for my previous phone, but not very well with the 8100. The BT250V gets high marks for being potentially... functional. But it's big and ugly compared to the Logitech.

Please tell me that one or both of these headsets allows the phone to still ring. It's incredibly dumb that manufacturers think that we keep these things in our ears 24/7. If I'm driving I need to hear my 8100 RING while paired and then I'll pop in the headset.

So which should I go with?
