mp3-tones

I know this phone doesn't come with an mp3 player, but is it possible to make mp3's as your ringtone, incoming messages etc... i ask only because i'm thinking about buying this phone, and my friend has a v620 and he can use the included software/data cable, and actually put mp3's on the phone, to use as ringtones, even though there is no built in mp3 player, the phone still recognizes the mp3's, does anyone know if the 7100 can do this?

thanks

7100t Browser Bookmarks...

Is anyone else annoyed by the way the bookmarks page expands T-Zones and Web Links and collapses Blackberry Bookmarks EVERY TIME you enter the browser? Ninety nine time out of a hundred, I want to see MY bookmarks not the factory promos.

Thanks...Scott

File Storage and Viewers

Is there any way to copy word and excel documents over to this phone and then view them, other than sending yourself an email with the files as attachments? Also, does the device support expansion cards, or are you just stuck with the 32MB of internal storage?

Spam Filtering

I do not use a sever to forward my email to my Blackberry but rather have my pop3 mail account forward my email. That really offers one major problem, I am not able to control the amount of spam that my pop3 account forwards. I know that they use a spam filter but I still get much more spam than I want.

Is there any 3rd party, software that I can add to my Blackberry which will help me eliminate or minimize the amount of spam? It seams that all of the software that I see on the net is designed for a mail server and will not work for me.

Thanks for any information.

7100g not shown here yet?

Just wondering when the 7100g will be shown on Phone Scoop. Right now it say that the 7100 is available via Cingular, which I don't think is true (unless it's unlocked). Will Phone Scoop be adding the 7100g any time soon?

Blackberry 7100 with Verizon

I currently am a Verizon customer and travel about half of the month throughout the entire US. Verizon consistently has the best coverage in most areas. Now, here is my dilemma.

I want a Blackberry. Not the old (clunky) BlackBerry but the new 7100 series BlackBerry. I would have the best of both worlds, being able to use this device as a phone and also being able to retrieve my email (pushed). I know that the 7100 series currently offered is GSM and will not work on the Verizon network. For that reason, I am tempted to switch to Cingular and buy a 7100G. What I really want to know is there a 7100 series or another Blackberry on the horizon that I should wait for. I really don’t want to switch carriers and am willing to wait a few...

Pre-Purchase Questions

I am seriously thinking of buying the Blackberry 7100 for Cingular. I have a few questions before I switch service and buy this devise. I travel on business throughout the entire USA (mostly large cities). I would use this device as a pone and as a way of getting my email. I do not plan to browse the internet with the Blackberry.
1. Is the ringer loud enough to be heard?
2. Is the earpiece loud enough to use?
3. Is the speakerphone loud and clear?
4. How are the voice qualities of this phone?
5. Can I use a bluetooth earpiece to "dial-out" on this phone?
6. Does this phone have voice dial?

Opinions on the phone in general as well as service with Cingular would also be appreciated.

General Questions

Giving this phone a thought, but I have a few questions:

Why did it disappear from Cingular's web site?

Is this thing more dependable (less lock ups, etc.) than the Moto's I have owned lately (V600, MPX220, V3 RAZR)?

Will my Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset work with it?

When will it be available through Cingular again?

Thanks!

bb7100g or treo something?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All,

I have both a Treo 600 and a 650.

My IT dept. will support out of the office Outlook connectivity to the 600 but not 650 and has no plans to support it.

Obviously, the 650 is beautiful and much improved over the 600 but I really need connectivity.

I have a total of options. Please let me know which you would do.

1) return my beautiful 650, keep the 600 and resign myself to the lesser features, etc.

2) keep the 650 and access my corporate email, contacts and calendar through a secure web page login. The 650 supports this but the navigation of the site is really tough and the download times are pretty slow... not horrible but slow.

3) get myself a BlackBerry 7100G that My IT dept. will also support but of course it ...

Bluetooth Pairing with HandsFreeLink Acura

Has anyone used this or any other RIM BlackBerry handset with their HandsFreeLink Acura automobile? I currently have a Sony T608 which has been one of the worst phones I have owned, but it does pair and work with my Acura TL. This HandsFreeLink system is excellent, but I am a hostage of Sprint until November and I want to make the right move when the contract expires.

7100t Speakerphone Bug...

Has anyone noticed that if you press the speakerphone shortcut (.) too soon after starting a call, the upper left icon shows the speakerphone is active yet it is not. You have to switch back and forth one more time to get it to work.

Thanks...Scott

Keypad Question

Hey Everyone

I was thinking about getting this phone and I had a quick question about the keypad. I see that there are two letters to each button and I was just wondering how you would get the second letter. Here is what I mean, it has both A and B on the same button, so would I have to press that button twice or would I just have to hit the one side of the button for the one letter and then hit the other side of the button for the next letter. Thanks in advance for any input that you provide.

Voice Dial? over Bluetooth?

I'm not sure why I haven't seen this question, it's a big deal for other BT phones. The specs never talk about things you can't do. Does the 7100 support voicedial over bluetooth? How is everyones experience with bluetooth overall?

TIA

How is the 7100 at web browsing?

I would like to know how well the 7100t renders websites while browsing the internet. What are the pros and cons compared to other high end phones? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Verizon Availability?

Does anyone have an idea or intel on when verizon will be offering this phone? I really don't want to switch to tMobile with such extensive travel requirements. Everytime I see someone on the plane with this phone they say they love the phone but the coverage is spotty. Thanks in advance. jr@exolo.com

T-Mobil t-errible

I find it odd that RIM would choose T-Mobil to market this terrific (per all of the reviews and hype) unit exclusively and not go with a couple of providers. T-Mobil service is quite bad in the Southeast and its data network is substandard everywhere.

I'd like to try it but I guess I'll have to upgrade to a Treo 650.

CIngular Input

Anyone had a chance to experiment with this phone on the Cingular network? A demo at least (aimed toward you Cingular Employees)? Is this a nice, more inexpensive alternative to the Treo 650 (which I want sooo badly but don't want to spend that much money on a phone)? Any input will be rewarded with a large sum of thank you. 🤣 🤣

Cingular 7100g Sold Unlocked

Cingular is now selling the 7100g. It is sold already unlocked. No paying extra fees for unlocking or purchasing links or software to unlock. All one has to do is insert their GSM SIM card. The phone is quad band and will work with any of the GSM carriers that support 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.

Is this phone sold unlocked?

Sorry if this has already been answered but it wasn't clear to me.

Is this phone unlocked and/or will it work on Cingular GSM network without any problems?

Thanks!!! 🙂
