Example Pictures / Comments

I've posted some pictures taken with my 8940 and they are sure horrible. And before people reply telling me this is a phone not a digical camera, I know that and my expectations weren't high, but I was still very dissapointed.

Is it just my 8940, or are other people's pictures this bad as well?

connecting the phone's mp3 player to a stereo

I just got a set of monster cables and an headset adapter for my 8940. The adapter was needed cuz the headphone hole in the phone is smaller than standard ones. I plugged it into my stereo and it worked, the only problem is the headphone jack keeps slipping out of the phone, so i have to prop something up against it to keep it playing on the stereo. I was wondering if anyone had tried the same thing with more success, and if so, how did you do it (what brand of smaller headphone adapter did you use?)

Roaming problems

My 8940 has been great except for one nagging problem --

Inside buildings it frequently goes shifts onto "Extended Network". Usually there are 3-5 signal bars, but the incoming calls won't ring nor can I make outgoing calls. A even when going outside where there is good Verizon service the phone will not automatically leave "Extended Network" and go back on "Verizon Wireless". I have to turn the phone off and back on again, then it works fine.

I assume "Extended Network" is some type of roaming. Are there any settings to fix my problem ? I have done the *228 to update software and PRL but this has not helped.

Thanks

Bitpim / Driver problem

I've installed bitpim, and the future dial driver softwares, but somehow bitpim think my CDM 8940 is LG-VX 4400, showing following in the log:
12:32:23.127 COM4: Opening port COM4, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0
12:32:23.127 COM4: Open of comm port suceeded
12:32:23.127 LG-VX4400: Attempting to contact phone
12:32:23.127 LG-VX4400: Listing dir ''
-----------------------

Is this the driver problem? Or bitpim problem?
B/c of that, bitpim of course can't read files from my cell phone and I can't do anything to it.

Is there anyone else having this problem? Any solution?

Any inputs are appreciated.

PIC and Video File formats

When I put pics and videos from my mini sd card onto my computer I am unable to view them. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to view these files.

Also I had to get a replacement 8940 because the phone locked up after going into extended roaming and when I put my mini sd card into the new phone I wasn't able to view the pictures and videos I took with the old phone. This is really odd since its the same phone, but if anyone know's anything about this.....please let me know.

Mini SD/MP3 player playlist order

Does anyone know how to organize the playlist on the mini SD cards. I have tried re-ordering them by name, date, size, type in windows. I have tried clearing the SD card and putting the MP3's back on in the order I wanted, doesn't work. If anyone has any info about this please post a reply. Thanks

Help with 8940

I have downloaded mp3's to use as ringers through freeringtones.net.

The site takes the mp3, has you convert it, then uploads it to the phone as a QCP.

Problem is, the sound is very distorted. It does not sound clear at all. Does anyone know of a fix to this problem?

Also, some pictures that I have sent to myself to use as wallpaper. they come up when I view them in the message, but after I save them and try to view them. they are just black.

Thanks for any help.

A couple quick questions about the mp3 player...

1. does the phone come with a miniSD card

2. Can you create playlists or subfolders

3. Does it auto skip to the next song when one is finished

4. Do the play pause buttons on the outside work for the mp3 player?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

New phone, now what do I need?

Just got my 8940, I'm pumped, but now need to buy all the extras to take advantage of the feautres.
I know I need a miniSD card.
But what else? How do I get the data onto and off of the mini SD card? Does the USB cable offered to plug comp--phone act as the link between the card and my computer, or is there some other piece of equiptment I need for syncing up the card?

Thank in advance for your response 🙂

file format for ringtones?

ok. so I just got my new CDM-8940 and sent a picture to my hotmail accound to find out my phone address [ yournumber@vzwpix.com duh ;) ] and then replied to that address with a small mp3 to possibly use as a ringtone.
I received the message with the mp3 changed to a .qcp file and I cannot assign it to a ringtone.

Is there a specific format I need to send the sound to my phone in for it to be recognized as a ringtone?

any help is much appreciated!

8940 Browser Options Code!

If you want to change your browser options on your 8940 to be a able to get free WAP internet here is the access code:

press

##BROWSER then press the "end call button"

From there you can change your default homepage, Gateway address and port settings.

With a lot of hard work searching the web you will eventually find a working free WAP gateway address and port. I would recomnend changing your homepage to something other than the Verizon homepage as they want you to pay for them a monthly fee to surf the internet. You can set up your own WAP homepage at www.tagtag.com or use google
http:/www.google.com/xhtml

Remember the internet is only free during your hours of free calls (evenings and weekends) Using the internet during reg...

A couple of questions about my new 8940....

Hey I just got the 8940 about a week ago. I upgraded from an old crappy phone, so basically everything on this phone is really sweet to me. No complaints yet. My first question is whether it costs money to send the pictures from the phone to your computer using the www.vzwpix.com website. Do normal text charges apply? I have the IN network unlimited text package on my phone, just wondering if sending it to that website costs or is free. Also, I just bought the futuredial cable #28 and was wondering what kind of things I can do with it. Can I transfer pictures? Make ringtones? I can't figure out what kind of drivers to get exactly. Somebody help me get the most out of this phone. Thanks a lot.

Vibrating Ringtones

Ok Maybe one of you guys can help me out here, I got my 8940 like 3 days ago, have skimmed the manual and am still trying to figure somethin out. When i was looking at the phone in the vedrizon store, i was looking at one of the ringtones and played it, it was some rap or r&b song that every couple of seconds while it was playing, the phone would vibrate as if the bass was hitting or whatnot, maybe its only on certain ring tones or w/e, but any response would be greatly appreciated.
