Should I get the V620?

I'm planning to buy a new cell phone & plan within the next couple months. All these motorola phones seem to be getting their firmware updates. I'm looking for a flip phone, bluetooth, and a good camera. any suggestions? the V710 for verizon seems to suck ass because the firmware is useless from what i've read (also updating firmware). if anyone has any suggestions let know. It seems like motorola has a bad rep for pleasing their customers.....

Beware of Motorola's "warranty"

I purchased an unlocked Motorola 878, which broke three weeks after the purchase. I sent the phone to the Motorola Texas repair center. First they lost the phone then they returned it unrepaired. I have been given several different excuses for Motorola's failure to repair, which includes the following:
(1) The phone was not manufactured in the USA (however, none of the phones are).
(2) The repair is too costly.
(3) The phone was discontinued.
(4) The repair center does not have the parts
(5) Just buy another phone.

To date, Motorola has refused to honor its one year warranty. They have not repaired the phone, replaced the phone or resolved the situtation. During my last call to Motorola, a supervisor just hung up.

IF YOUR CONSIDER...

Release Date/Price

Anyone have any more specific details besides "4th Quarter"? I heard Cingular plans to release this, as well as the V551, when their merger with ATT is complete, in about a week or two.

Also, can I get a possible neighborhood price range for this and the V551???

V620 for Verizon?

Will Verizon pick this phone up even though they just released the V710?

It sure as hell wouldn't hurt their selection by any means...

Bluetooth

I've noticed that Motorola's been really kickin up the use of bluetooth in their handsets. Now I know that they're a member of the Bluetooth SIG, but is this going to become a standard feature with their new phones?

I'm a big bluetooth fan, I love the convenience and universality of it and would absolutely LOVE for it to become as standard as a color screen has become.

Don't hold your breath

I wrote to motorola asking about the V620. (I just bought a V600 so I wanted to know what the differences were in the hardware and software). I attached the resposne, but the main point was don't expect the v620 to be launched until 2005.

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support. We appreciate your interest in our brand and our products.

Regarding your concern, at this time, Motorola has not discontinued the V600 cellular phone. Moreover, the V620 that will be an upgrade to the V600 is at a development stage and will therefore not be launched until 2005. Please note that the phone needs to go through the development and testing stages and then it needs to be approved by the FCC; therefore, we will not expect to se...

Does this phone support EDGE?

I can see that the updated V500, the V551, supports EDGE but does the V620 support EDGE? They are part of the triplets family of Motorola phones (V300 / V500 / V600) so why would they update the V500 to support EDGE and not the V600?

If it doesn't support EDGE, is this something that can be changed with a FLEX file or updated firmware. In other words could the FLEX files or firmware from the V551 be put on the V600 or V620 to give it EDGE support?

motorola new phones are all GSM!

I think motorola and all other companies are like giving up on verizon and sprint cdma cause it's not worth it! When the world uses GSM and 3G. What's the point?! All the cool looking phones are GSM anyway! WORD!

Release Date?

Does anyone have an approximate release date/month? It's so sleek. I might go to Verizon and get the V710, but if this is coming out soon I might have second doubts.

first post!!!

ok...is it just me or is Moto movin REALLY fast? It's got how many phones that have been announced and not released, or horribly delayed and yet it's continually announcing updates and new phones. For whatever reason the marketing dept. at Motorola has been hyping REALLY early and not releasing in a time frame that allows for American consumer's impatience.

Remember the a840, v710, a630, v180, Mpx220....oh wait...they haven't been released yet. How CAN we remember them if we haven't gotten our hands on them?
