Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

I am having tons of issues with his crappy phone. It dropped calls , gets signal sometimes other times it doesn't get any signal.

I called Cingular the only option I have is to get a 2 year contract for a razor or a 1 year. The phone is still under warrenty.

Did anyone had same issues with this phone,and how did they fixed it.

I have a friend who REFUSES to tell me how to do this, even though he's done it, so can anyone tell me how to record a sound and set it as a ringtone?
Also,
when I try to send my phone messages using +and my #, from AIM, they dont work. Anyone know why? I get this message: Your message could not be delivered. Please try again later.

Is anyone using a wired headset with their V551 that has an answer/hangup button that actually works?

I've tried two Jabra wired headsets with buttons, but the button does nothing on the V551. I have to open the phone to answer. I can't find any definitive answer to whether it is possible or not.

It works with bluetooth headsets, but the bluetooth respose time is just too long for me. The call goes to voice mail before I can connect and answer.

I can upgrade this next month and i was thinking about getting this phone but i was wondering how good the reception is on this phone because the phone i have now gets ok reception but it isn't the greatest and i live in the country so that don't help however my relatives get great reception with there phones. any input will be appreciated thanks

Has anyone tried to tether V551 and a PC? My connection speed is only around 25 kbs download and 25 kbs upload.

V551 should be Class 4 EDGE and Class 10 GPRS. AT&T technical assistant told me that the EDGE tethering should be 60 to 80 kbs and GPRS is 20 to 45 kbs. I have AT&T SIM and they told me that it should not make any difference.

Has anyone got the EDGE speed via V551? I use Bluetooth connection. Is there any difference using the USB cable instead of Bluetooth?

Any input will be appreciated.

do u know if this phone can be transferred to t-mobile and if so can it become a pre paid phone because i want a new phone and this phone looked cool the only problem was that it was in cingular and did not say it can be in prepaid every time i saw it so if u know can u tell me thanks

I just got a new V551 (yeah I know its arcahic now) and I'm having trouble putting custom ringtones on my phone.


When I try using a BlueTooth adapter i get a System Error when trying to access uploaded songs.

Also-- is there a way to put songs on my phone without getting charged for internet fees? (I keep on getting a System Error when accessing songs that i uploaded to my FTP server).

Finally-- is the only other option a USB cord?

Hi,

I've a friend who desperatly needs some photos copied from her phone. The phone was dropped, so even though the phone is working the screen is not!

I'm guessing I can probably get them off somehow over bluetooth. I don't have the data cable or software though so that side of things is not an option.

It's pretty important to get these photos for her personal reasons so I'm trying my best to figure out a way.

If anyone has a V551 that can tell me the keystrokes required to enable bluetooth then it would be most appreciated.

If anyone has any other thought on how to get them off then that would also be appreciated.

I was wondering, on the Cingular website's "Phone Compatability Chart", is shows that the V551 is compatible, but isn't on sale. The only one that is, is the V557. Is the V557 compatible? I'm a sucker for games. 😛 😁

I just upgraded to the 557 on Wednesday from the 551 because I thought the 551 was a great phone. Then on Saturday (yesterday) my reception suddenly dropped down to nothing, to the point that my phone said Emergency Only on the status. So after going back to the Cingular store, they swapped phones for me. Today, the same thing happens, I had the phone maybe 15 hours. The rep was surprised to see me in the store again and said that none of the other 557's they have sold have had this problem. I wasn't willing to give it a try again so I switched to the Razr.

Wish I could have enjoyed my 557, seemed like a nice upgrade to the 551 ☹️

I just got the V551 (Cingular branded) from Motorola.com b/c my contract wasn't up for renewal and I didn't feel like paying a million dollars. Upon receiving the phone I noticed the blue external display is difficult to read. My brother has the same phone and his is more of a dark blue color, which is much easier to read, as compared to my aqua colored screen. He just got his phone not 2 weeks ago. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do about this?

I'm looking for a quad phone just to use for travel outside of the country as I use Sprint in the US. Is there any difference between these 2? Looks like the 557 is a worthwile upgrade from the 551, not sure if the 330 is more like the 551 or if all would be basically the same for what I want to use it for.

We have a V551 (Cingular, 09/2005), and about four in ten pictures we take are blurred. They look good in the initial screen (where the still image appears right after taking the pic) and in the thumbnails, but when we view the pictures from the gallery, some of them look wavy/blurry, as though the camera were spinning and wobbling when the shutter was open.

They also have that blur effect when transferred to and viewed on another phone or on a PC. What's weird is that the initial image looks fine.

The warranty replacement we just got has the same problem. Anyone know what might be causing this? It appears to be a software glitch....

Has anyone else had this problem with any phones in this line?

I am looking at the V557 and the Song Eric Z520 at Cingular. Also the Samsung A940 at Sprint.

Would appreciate any reports on your satisfaction with the V557. I understand that it replaced the V551 due to many problems with the 551.

Interested in reception strength and battery life.

I purchased a Motorola V551 to use with my AT&T plan and when I turn it on with my AT&T SIM card install, it says "Enter Subsidy Password."

I assume it means that Cingular has now locked their phones.

Does anyone have the code to unlock it?
