I live in Champlin, Minnesota and i was wondering if anyone else here has this phone and is lives in Minnesota (anywhere in MN, preferebly around Minneapolis). Or if you have this phone and live anywhere, how good is reception? I want it to work in my house and in the basement (thats where my room is) so if it works well in those areas I'm definitly going to get it. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I currently have an LG VX4400 and am considering the SE Z500a for my upcoming switch to Cingular. There are 2 features of the VX4400 that bug me and I want to know if they are on the Z500a.
1. Ring and vibrate - on the VX4400 you get one or the other (or one after the other) but not both at the same time. What about the Z500a? Can it be set to ring and vibrate at the same time?
2. Side buttons - on the VX4400 there is a side button, below the volume up/down buttons, that puts the phone in vibrate ("manner mode") and then silent mode when pressed. Since I keep the phone in my pocket and the button is not recessed I was constantly putting the phone into silent mode without realizing it until I hacked away at the button to make it flush.... does anyone know how to set this phone (z500a) to use calling card ? (local#+pin#+fon#). i had old chocolate bar nokia and even that old one had that function. anyone ? that is main use of my mobile phone. a guy from cingular said it does NOT have it. but i still can not believe this new phone doesn't have that ancient function.
I work in a Cingular store that carries both the Z500 & the V551 & I've used both extensively in store. I don't understand what "supposedly" makes the v551 a gift from the cellular gods, while the z500 can eat @#$# & die.
I really like the z500. The only thing it lacks when being compared to the v551 is bluetooth. The camera/video quality is comparable. The price is lower than the v551. The screen resolution may be slightly lower, but not by much. The speakerphone function kicks butt over anything Motorola has on the market at this time. The speakerphone is louder AND maintains clarity better at high volumes. I have also noticed that in my store & in the surrounding area, the z500 ... (continues)
Reading text messages from the external simply doesn't work.
I have no idea how a few people are able to do it, but I went to the sonyericsson.com site and found this.
"This phone does not support viewing messages from the external display. Sony Ericsson is aware this is a desirable feature on clamshell phones and is exploring this for future models."
Go to this link, http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc= en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&p id=10138, click knowledge base, type in text messages, click on search. The above statement will be located.
Like I said, I have no idea how some people can read messages. Maybe they don't know the difference between getting an alert about a message being received, and actually reading the received message.
On my phone my face plate comes off by applying almost no pressure. Sometimes when I take my phone out of my pocket the faceplate falls off. my model was one of the first and I wonder if it is another defect because that isnt the only defect on my phone. Any solution besides getting a new phone??
My wife just bought the Z500a and she was looking into finding a backgammon game. She loved playing it onher old Nokia 3595. I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas where we can find it for the Z500a??
