Just read the newpaper ad. Oz is correct. $49.99 after $300 rebate with only 1 yr contract. Ad says minimum 6 per store. So how does one know if these are the original substandard volume models or the newer ones?

That price is for new activations only!! I would think that they are the f/w .342 since the .325 have already been shipped back to moto. there is still another f/w update 1.30 that cingular is replacing for the .342--you choose.

Yes the .342 has the orange--Best buy is supposed to get ones later with a black sticker but I got mine through Cingular XBM (xchange by mail)anf it is SO NIGHT and DAY from the other two versions--the camera is actually usable and the volume is WAY better--this is the first time that I haven't had to put the profile on outdoor--it's on normal and it's equivalent to the outdoor on the other two f/w's. I wouldn't waste your time with f/w .342--it really isn't much of an improvement--get the f/w 1.30--you must be a cingular customer to get the XBM

Where did you get your information? I called Motorola and Cingular and they said the .342 is the latest version. Is this just a software upgrade and if so can Cingular update it for us. Do you know win Best Buy will get the new phones?

ver .342 has issues still. camera issues with bluetooth and very low volume on mp3 tones. if you can wait for the one from cingular. good luck.

We went to Best Buy on black Friday to pick the phone up, but they didn't have them in stock due to the recall. After some discussion and pointing out that the add said "minimum of 6 per store" we received rain checks for them.
Well went back an picked it up 2 for $50, plus they gave us each a $25 gift card because it took us 1 1/2 hours to get the phones connected.
So our total price for 2 phones... $50!

But if you cant hear anyone, then the $50 bucks may be wasted. How is your volume in crowded places - that is the true test. I still have some time left to decide whether to keep but I am leaning on returning it to BB.

I use it during my commute to/from NYC. I have had no problem issues hearing anyone when I'm in Penn Station or when I'm in the streets which are the two noisiest environments I am in. I also don't have the best hearing (I was in the front row of two many rock concerts during college) but I still don't have complaints.
