Can the V400 receive pictures?

I can take and send jpg photos with my v400, but I'd like to be able to also receive and display them on the phone.

When I send the V400 phone an email with an attached jpg, the phone reports having receieved the message, but when I display the email, I can't see any sign of the attached jpg.

Should the v400 be able to receive emails with attached images, and display them? If so, is there some button combination that's required to display the attached jpg?

Thanks very much!
Bruce.

My v400 crashed

I had to get a new v400 today b/c the phone would not turn on. It would power up and act like it was going to turn on and then it would never get past the black screen and then after a few minutes it would turn off. The guy at the store did a bunch of stuff to the phone but nothing worked. Has anyone else had this problem? I have only had the phone 3 weeks and I lost everything that was not saved to my sim card (ie..pictures, ringtones and phone #s saved to the phone). Now I am kind of getting worried. I have never had great experiences with Moto and when I switched to Nokia, I never had a problem. I thought I would give Moto a try again but now I don't know!

Flexing??

Do you guys think flexing up to V600 is necessary? I like to play around with my phone from time to time to keep me busy, and want to know if the flex comes with any fun new games/programs to keep me occupied. If theres a chance I could screw up my phone real good I may stay away from the flexing, but I'm one of those poeple who needs to try it. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Hex Editor trouble...

I just tried to edit my gain_table.bin file with HHD Hex Editor. I changed the volumes that I wanted and saved the editted file. When I attempted to load the new file on to my phone I didn't see an "upload path" button like the guide says I should, instead I saw an "upload seem" button. I used that, typed in "/a/" hit "upload seem" and choose the new gain_table.bin file. I hit open and I assumed everything had worked properly, a message "uploading seem N 0000record N 0001" showed up at the bottom and stayed there. I can't quite tell if anything has changed with the volumes, is this normal???? Thanks.

Ringer Volume

Also if anyone knows how to increase the Ringer volume then please let me know. Though I am personally a Nokia fan, I got this phone for a really good deal with a new activation fron Cingular as I wanted a quad band GSM phone. HOwever, I have found that it has issues with volume which need to be rectified.

Some of the ringer tones are naturally louder than others but one would think it would have a larger volume range. Any info would be appreciated.

I have read this stuff about Hexing/Flexing and adding cracked software but I rather not resort to that but if someone does have a simple explanation as to how those things work, then please do let me know as I have not used them before.

Also, what are my options to connect my V400 t...

V400 Key tone sound volume

When you are scrolling through the menu, or just using the keys to click on Exit or Back, do you hear the key beeping sound if the phone is several cm away from your phone?

I just recently bought a V400 but the first one I got, the headset volume was terribly low, so went and got it exchanged for another one. Now the headset volume seems to be better than the previous one, but when I am scrolling through the menus I cannot hear the key volume even though it is set to the max of 7. I cannot clearly remember how loud the keys were on the previous phone but I somehow remember the beeping sound to be louder such that I can actually hear it or maybe I am just confused and mistaken. Please let me know.

By the way, the side key, the volu...

to buy or not to buy?

Hey Im about to cash in on an employee plan through Cingular, but Im not sure which phone to go with. Im currently looking at either the moto v400 or the LG 1200. Can anyone tell me how they compare to each other in terms of signal strength, quality, battery life, and feaetures. Also what kind of problems, or short comings have you run into with either phones if any? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Not the wrong cable....still can't access mobile explorer

No lump or "box" in the cable, and I have checked with pictures of the correct cable for sale.
I would also agree with both of you that I had the wrong cable except...when I first got the cable and software a couple of months ago I was able to transfer about 6 pictures to my laptop. Then my battery was dead and I had problems with the internet connection so I re-installed the mobile phonetools software. Here is where my problem lies....I can't re-create what I did originally. And I have unistalled and re- installed several thousand times and can not figure out what I am doing wrong. I am at a total loss! Any help is appreciated. Email is krohde@cox.net and my ICQ number is 232727103. Thanks! 😕

Hex Editing

If you want to be able to make more modifications to your v400 but you're not comfortable with hex editing, then check out the application this guy created! Follow through the pages because he has screen shots and links to download it! It should be VERY helpful!!!

Free Wallpapers (created by me)

Hey Everyone,
I've been creating a lot of wallpapers lately for my v400 and I just figured I'd share them with everyone else in case you want to put them on your phone as well. I added a link to this from my main v400 site as well.

Let me know what you guys think!

Ringtones and wallpaper problems - unlocked phone on tmobile

I have a v400 phone which was unlocked for T-Mobile service and can't download ring tones or wallpaper. My phone tells me (through T-Zones) that although I may have that capability on my device, my phone is not supported. I don't know how to download from Motorola's website either because it doesn't recognize my phone as a T-Mobile serviced phone. Any ideas on how I can get these extras? I've already had to enter all the information to get t-zones myself - what a pain this has been.

Thanks in advance!

V400 Flex (to Return Crippled Features)

I have Cingular V400 with flex GS9V400CIN02NA0E0 and software TRIPLETS_G_0B.08.9FR

The phone works OK but I'd like to bring back some features that I believe Cingular has crippled, such as ability to view/connect to available networks and the engineering menu.

1. Is this possible by just flexing. Not really interested in V600 flash but can do if this is the only way

2. Where could I obtain such a flex?

3. Does anybody have Cingular flex so I could return the phone back to original if I have to return the phone for repairs/warranty?

TIA,

Jarmo

Downloaded PT 2.21... but.....not working still.

I downloaded the program (Mobile Phone tools 2.21) and extracted it to a specific folder and then attempted to run it, but I am still getting the message that a previous version was not detected. What do I do to get around this?
