Motorola V400

I live in Lousiana. Before leaving for vacation to NJ, i stopped by a Company owned store to make sure that v400 would work in New Jersey where i was going. They told me that Cingular didn't have service there, but ATT did. I have a 32k sim card, not a 64k, but they told me it didn't matter, my phone would work because the v400 works on 1800mhz, and thats what ATT uses in NJ.

Well, i dont have service. How do i get my v400 to start picking up ATT towers?

I unlocked a v505 I am using it on cingular but can't find the mms settings can someone post the settings for their v400 I think they would be the same any help would be appreciated

Got this excellent data tool from cell store at PA internatioanl airport, this small package is called MA-8860 handset manager data tool, it really surprised me! I can manage phone book data from my pc, sync calendar and make my V400 function as a PDA, changing ringers and wallpapers...and the cable charges my phone, all functions are easy to use, very user friendly! I paid US 39.99 to get this tool, just love it very much. If you own a v400, you really can not miss this nice tool!!!

If anybody can help me i would appreciate. I downloaded mp3 ringtones from rousso.net and uploaded it to my phone with p2k. I can play those but i can't apply them as ringtones. Also, my downloaded MPT won't install as it keeps giving me an error message. I tried finding the update but all sites dont work. Please help.

Can you do all the great things you seem to be abble to do to the v400 to the v505 like editing seem files and things like that if you can. Can you point me in the right direction

Just got my phones last week and finally got around to trying to hook em up.

I've read the guides at FETNU's site (great site BTW - thanks for the guidance), but can't seem to register at motclub.com. I've gotten an acceptance message but verification emails have yet to show up.

Does anyone know of another place I can d/l the main software necessities (p2k driver, mpt, and pst)?

I was wondering if theres anyway to customize the name that appears at the top of the screen on my v400. I'm in Canada and on the Fido network, and it always says "Fido" on the top of my phones screen right above the date. I would imagine that it would say Cingular or whatever network your using; anyways i was just wondering if theres anything that can be done software wise to change that. I have the USB cable and software working fine, and have been able to customize everything else, just wondering if I can customize this too. Thanks.

I just received my 4th v400 replacement from Cingular today and I am having a problem with it already!! I switched from my old V400 with a full charge on my battery and when I put it in my "replacement" it says the battery was dead! so I charged it and 10 mins later it said charge complete. took it off the charger and about 10 seconds later it goes from being fully charged to one bar... what is going on?? Is this a known defect or what. I have had nothing with problems with moto phones with Cingular. I had the v600 and had two of those and now I'm on my 4 v400 with problems. What is the policy for getting a different model? I am willing to re sign my contract or pay the difference for another model....

Is there a way to get the phone to play my voicemail alert more than once? If I am away from my phone, an alert that plays only once, and presumably right after I missed the call, kind of defeats the purpose of an alert.

When the headset is plugged into a V400, does it ring in the headset earpiece, for while driving in the car?

Something I've noticed is that the volume of the other speaker's voice changes during the call. This is not a problem if I am not moving. I'm not sure if this is related to the problem of my phone not updating the "reception bar" level in real-time. Currently, if I want an accurate reading of my reception, I have to flip open the phone in order for the bar meter to update. I also have the problem of losing all reception and having to power off and then power on the phone. As far as changing the phone from what I got from Cingular, I've change Gain_table only, and these problems preceeded that modification.

When a particular person calls me, the caller id shows it as an unknown call even though this person is in my phonebook w/area code too. Yet, when this same person will text me, it always shows that it's them. Why will it always recognize the text but never the call?

I'm new to this please be patient with me if I do something that might be incorrect of seems dumb.

I installed phone tools verison 1.23 EN from the motoclub site. After extracting all files I installed the program and when it got to the end there was an error message that said:

Error No: 0X80040707
Description: DLL Function call crashed PBKINSTALL._GETBOOKSNAMES
setup will terminate

Any ideas what I can do?

Okay, so I REALLY want to make my own MP3 ringtones and play around with my phone, but I am a little computer challenged, or at least I feel that way. I have a few questions:
1.) I have an internet connection on my phone, so when I connect my USB to my computer and run mobile phone tools do I need to connect to the internet that's on my phone for it to work?
2.) I believe that when I connect my USB to phone and computer it recognizes it, but all it will ever do is say "initializing"...it never connects...WHY?! I have Windows 98 by the way and the most current version of MPT.
3.) I also have downloaded the PST and motorola USB driver altough I don't know if I need it for MPT to work.
ANy help/answers would be greatly appreciated...

OK, I was a dummy. I paid the $30 for Motorola's MPT software. Then I bought a data cable at Radio Shack for another $20. Installed and updated the MPT software to latest version (2.21 I think).

Here's my problem: No matter what i do, I cannot transfer files between the phone & the PC. The phone book works OK, so obviously, the SW and cable are working. But when I open the Media Explorer, is shows no audio or picture files on the phone. Also, I can't upload a file to the phone from my PC.

Help!!!

When the cellular phone pops up on MPT it also says "no modem installed". How do I install the modem and what should the modem installed be? I have Win 98. Thank you

😢 Ok i am very new to this whole v400 deal, had a mpx200 but didnt like it much because of battery life and we were switching service to cingular, so but anyways i have some mp3 ringtones on my phone and when i set them for a personal ringer id, ill get a text message from that personal it will play the ring id instead of the default sms ring which i have set to notify, gets very annoying when i hear a 30 second ring instead of a .5 second beep when i get a text message......Anybody have any ideas on how to stop it from doin this, i want it to have a personal ring for the contact but keep the same the message notify that i have set for all contacts.....Would flexing to the v600 flexware help this, and also if i flex to v600 flexware ive ...

The other day I went into Phone tools to add some ringers, and everything was fine. Since then though, now when on my phone I go into change the ringer, after going to 'Ring Styles' on the next screen when you're supposed to go down to 'Detail' and hit 'Change' to take you to your list of ringtones, it instead takes me back to the previous menu screen. So basically, it wont let me in to change my ringtones. Thats one problem.

Also, now when I'm adding more ringtones through phonetools, every one I add is showing up on my phone about 5 times.

Anybody experience either of these problems before?

If I flex a V400 up to a V600, will I be able to engage my speakerphone before the call connects? Can I change my phone's external display to display text other than the time?

Can anyone tell me how to use P2K Man or point me in the direction to somewhere that will tell me how to use the program. Thanks for any help
