v400 on at&t / attws

Hi all 😁
I purchased a motorola v400 (cingular branded) yesterday along with a new activation for attws while porting my number from t-mobile.

I am here to report that I have gotten mMode working on my phone, and want to share how.

First, you need to activate an mMode account with at&t.

Then, you need to go to "web sessions" on the phone and create a new entry as follows:

Name: mMode [doesn't matter]
Homepage: http://home
Gateway: 010.250.250.250
...
(leave defaults until)
...
GPRS APN: Proxy [case sensitive?]

Save it, set it as the default connection, and that's it! Now you can get on mMode.

My questions:
I can even use the Cingular Mall now (sort of) but its not gonna do me any good since I cant buy anything fr...

News of a "second batch:

My corporate rep tells me that there is a "second batch" of phones coming out in the next week or two, in which Motorola "fixed a problem".

Anyone can confirm or deny? Don't know if my rep is blowing smoke. Anyone care to divulge their SW version? When I get one of the "second batch", I will let you know if it's different.

BTW, I'm stuck waiting for the second batch, because the phone is difficult to find.

Regarding the v400 and Data Cable

I've been hearing a lot of people w/ the OEM Motorola cable and the Future Dial Cable have been having trouble actually getting multimedia from their PC to the phone or vice-versa. Has anybody been successful getting mp3's onto their phone? Can you list a step by step process?

Sync with outlook??

Finally got my V400....lovin it so far!! woooo hoooo.

Have a question, can you sync your contacts and date book with MS Outlook?

Do you need the "phone tools" software to do this??
Do you need the "Data Cable" to do this??

The cingular rep I got it from said he thought it was possible to "send" you contact list in an E-Mail and update it from there???

You guys have any ideas...havn't use a Motorola since the old Nextel phones, so I'm not too familiar with the tricks any more.

Thanks!!

Available in Houston, Texas

I just got my V400 today and I live in Houston Texas. Don't think it was easy, the only store that had it was the Town and Country Cingular store. It was crunk cause they was a whole bunch of people all getting the same phone, that moto v400 off the chain!

I'm loving my phone but it's hard to figure out all the ins and outs of this thing and the manual ain't much help. But it still crunk and I'mma make it work. Peace

Any v400's available in the St. Louis area yet?

Has anyone been able to find the phones anywhere in the St. Louis, MO area yet?

I called a couple of company owned stores and still got varying responses. One said they would get them in this Friday, a couple of others still stated by the end of the month.

Thanks.

I got my v400

I am an employee and recieved my v400 (contest phone) yesterday by ups. I did not get the car kit though just the phone. Was shocked should not have gotten it till next month. Seems moto is sending them out at random as not all of the sales reps in our market has gotten theirs yet. Pretty cool phone. Very vibrate screen, not a good selection of ringtones but what moto does. The camera is really clear compared to other camera phones I have seen. I have not had any luck logging on to internet though.

v400 not being marketed by cingular

😢 i just got off the phone with cingular sales. i was told that cingular will not be marketing the motorola v400. they stated that the only camera flip phone that they will be selling is made by samsung and will hit in 2-4 months. i am coming pretty close to changing my provider to sprint for the following reasons.
1: cingular is behind in technology. they cant even compete when it comes to phone choices. have you guys seen the new sprint camera flip phone it has built in walkie talkie 🙂
2: in my area which is columbus georgia my reception is terrible. right now i am on vacation visiting my parents in panama city florida and my phone is displaying cingular extend (i have the samsung s307) thank God i dont pay for roaming.

V400 is out!!

I work for a cingular agency in the st. louis market. Motorola had a contest on a website promising a new V400 to top salesmen. Myself and a few others in my market won one. I got it yesterday. It should be available to the public in mid January. The phone is awesome!!! The only bad thing thing I've found is the battery life isn't great. But what do you expect from a phone with that much memory?

Do 2 phones with 2 carriers give you more land coverage than 2 phones with 1 carrier??

Do 2 phones with 2 carriers give you more land coverage than 2 phones with 1 carrier?

We have a Nextel phone(with a cheap group rate plan) and an old Motorola StarTac (TDMA and analog) phone with Cingular in DC area. I have to make a decision whether I should change my plan phone with Cingular to Nextel or sign up a 2 year plan with cingular GSM with Motorola V400.

My thinking is maybe when my family is in one car(or together) we will have 2 phones with 2 carriers which give more coverage. Right?! For example, yesterday my wife and I were waiting in the movie theater for friends and decided to call them. Nextel phone had no signal and I used my cingular and made the call. I know, you are thinking that I answered my own question. But no...
