mp3 questions

Hi

I was going to buy an mp3 player but could do with a new phone so I thought I'd look at an mp3 capable phone. The mp3 playback is really important so I'd be grateful if someone could answer my questions:

1) Does it playback in stereo via plug in earphones. I have heard some of the Nokia phones will only play in mono

2) Can it play variable bitrate mp3s ok?

3) All my albums have a folder and a corresponding m3u playlist file. Could I just copy the folders across to the MMC and the phone will recognise the m3u file, or is there a certain way you have to copy the files to the MMC and create a playlist from the phone in order to play an album?

Any other phone suggestions for mp3 playback would be good 🙂

Thanks
Guy

Cellphone antenna booster - does it work?

I see an antenna booster -- and am at the far range of our local tower. Do these things really work or are they nonsense?

Is it possible that the cell phone would be damaged by installing one of these?

Can the 6230 play Apple AAC from iTunes?

I'm an iTunes/Mac user and have many of my music files in their AAC format. I thught I had read soemwhere that the 6230 has some difficulty playing iTunes AAc files. Is that the case? Anyone out there using the 6230 to play Apple AAC files?

And how is the quality of the headphones? Anyway to use your own headphones with some sort of adapter? TIA.

Select memory card

Hi,
I'm trying to send music files to my phone via bluetooth but it goes to the phone's memory which is 8mb, therefore the songs don't go through. Anybody know how to make the files that are being received through bluetooth go straight to the MMC?

Another question I have is... is it possible to organize your music files using folders and still have the Music Player detect the songs?

Thanks a lot for your help

Recording playback to person on the other end is soft.

I used to have a T68i and one thing I loved to do is to record sounds and play them back as a prank when I call someone up.

I find that you can do that with the 6230 but when I play it back the sound on the other end is SOOO soft!! The recording is loud and clear when played locally though...

so I guess that's just another "bug" with the phone... I've never had a phone that quick-rebooted on me daily! But all in all its a cool phone and I'm pretty happy with it.

US version of 6230 and T-mobile

i know this is a cingular phone, but if you buy an unlocked 6230 from a US phone store, will it work without any problems with T-mobile? I ask because the US version is listed as GSM 800/1800/1900 but the european one is listed as GSM 900/1800/1900...
plus it seems like the ones who are using it with T-mobile in the reviews here bought them over in europe...

will i have problems using a US bought one with T-mobile? i definetly need bluetooth, GPRS, mp3/radio to work fine...

AIM App

The AIM app on my phone is extremely slow. I'm finally able to loggin after 2 or 3 tries. It then takes forever for the status icons to show. Oh, conversation move pretty slow too. After I sign out my text messaging is then messed up. It takes forever to correct itself and then all the text messages that were sent while it was messed up come in. I think the last time i used the AIM app I did not start getting messages until I removed the battery. Anyone else have this problem? 🙄

Nokia 6230 Problem/help MICROPHONE

I purchased a new Nokia 6230 from Cingular Online. I really like this phone alot, but the microphone is very loud. Callers can here all of the backgroud noise, even if i am driving in my car they can here my 4 bangers motor and tire noise?????

I tested the phone over and over, and still get insanse microphone pickup. If call my g/f's cell phone, and lay my 6230 on the couch, and stand 8-10 feet away it picks up my voice talking normal tone, and the mic levels are the same on Speakerphone as in normal mode. I figured the mic pickup would be less when u talk in normal mode, and louder pickup in speaker phone mode.

I have used all other brand phones, LG, motorola, Sony and the mic pickup isn't half as bad. I can talk on them all day lon...

Belt clip / holster for 6230

I just purchased the 6230 and really like it. My old V60i proved very durable as I'm pretty hard on phones (until it fell out of my pocket a week ago and the dog ate...but I'll save that story for another posting).

Does anyone have experience with belt clips or holsters for the 6230? The 'universal' ones I've seen look cheap. Does Nokia make anything specific for the 6230?

Thanks

Is it true that the 6230 does not have ringer ids?? For some reason the profile for this phone says that it doesn't. Can someone confirm??

MMC

Does anyone know if this is just a standard SD card? In other words, could I take the one out of my digital camera and have those pictures now in my phone? Or take pics with the phone and then bring the card to a Digital photo printer and print them out? Thanks in advance.

Please compare speaker and sound quality in 6230 and 6600?
which is better and louder?

I've heard that "6230 has 6X times louder and clearer than 6600 the 6230 can use 44100HZ frequency digital sound but 6600 onlly can use 16000HZ",

is this correct?

Thank you

Enhanced Full Rate Codec

I have a Nokia 6230b (US version) and I'd like to utilize the EFR (Enhanced Voice) function on my phone. I read somewhere that u must enter the *3370# command to activate it. However, it does not work on my phone. Is this a carrier limitation (Cingular) or firmware limitation? My phone is unlocked and firmware version is 4.28 Thanks in advance for your responses.

Bluetooth w/ plantronics headset

I am having some issues using my plantronics bluetooth headset. When I am connected and I go to unlock my phone or go into the menu, sometimes the volume control will pop up on the screen. It happens pretty frequently and its more annoying than actually hurting anything. Im just wondering if anyone has had the same issues with any other headsets. I also use the motorola one when im not at work and I dont have that issue with that one.
